I watched them when I was 13. I'm 28 now but back then i would always see the kick ass covers on the VHS tapes at rental shops and I would hear my friends talk about it in school but I never got around to renting them. One day I said to hell with it and begged my aunt to buy me the trilogy and watched them all back to back. Been a fan ever since.

What made them so memorable was the sense of adventure and innocence to them. The special effects and the imagination in the world that was created. At 1st I liked Return of the Jedi more due to the climax but over the years I have gravitated towards ESB and ANH more.Lakers 09 and 10 Champs! -

how can the contest run from 9/12 - 9/19, but the winner picked on 9/13?
I digress....
I saw them in late summer 1977 when I was ten years old. I had moved to a small town that wasn't likely to get it unril late 1978, so my Mom, the Sci-Fi buff drove us up to a suburb outside Saint Paul, MN to see them. Part of what made it memorable was going well out of our way to see them and the other part was that it was just sooo different.Last edited by webdev511; 09-19-2011 at 12:48 AM. I'm ineligible for this contest, but i'll post anyways:
first time i saw them: USA network when i was just a pup. i had played with the toys for a year or so before i ever saw a film in the series.
the first one i saw in theaters was AOTC. i know. lame. i also saw ROTS in theaters, but didn't go for Clone Wars: movie. so i'm 2/7 theatrically. i prefer to enjoy star wars to myself, though. my theater goings would be times and places guaranteed to have few others in attendance. it's a fun escape, and i enjoy only hearing the film, not hte audience.
what makes star wars so memorable? in the old days, the amazing effects and strong character portrayals and development. plus, who the hell didn't want to own a lightsaber? i mean, come on that shit is awesome, even if it shouldn't ever make Walrusman/Ponda Baba bleed when his arm is sliced off. cauterize.PB: BD and game review site. Fact: There's no such thing as a theatrical collection, unless you own actual theaters. No one cares about the notes or sort options in your collection. It only shows us what people can steal by breaking into your homes, you ninnies. No one cares about your slipcover collection, or that you have 10 slips for one movie and play dress up with it. -

I watched them when I was very young, I can't remember how old. I saw them of course, on VHS tape. It was magical back then.

for the record: my favorite toys were the 3 seconds of screentime Amanaman (so cool) in a distant second to the awesome POTF original Han Solo in Carbonite. that figure was the shiiiiiiiit!

My first StaR Wars experience.
I was born in 1986, So I wasn't around for the original trilogy release. But in the 1990's I was a playing at a cousins house and came across a box of action figures. They were the originals from the late seventies that were so coveted. I immediately wanted to know what this was all about. I found some VHS tapes the ones in the Gold Vader Boxes. And Was instantly hooked. It was right around this time that Lucas decided to Make The Phantom Menace. This was one of the first movies I ever saw in a theater. I walked out of the show, proclaiming to my older cousins that I wanted to go to USC and be a filmmaker, and those are still my aspirations to this day. I graduated from college with a degree in film studies and American Culture in 2009 and am now trying to development some script ideas. I work in video editing for a news station currently, but I will always have the dream of making movies... All thanks to Star Wars and George Lucas...

I remember being 4 years old, going to see the 1979 re-release at the Drive In. I was completely hooked from the first image of Darth Vader coming through those doors looking for the rebel scum.
It's not only my earliest memory of Star Wars, but one of the earliest memories I remember. -

I was about 6 and I was watching A New Hope on VHS on a tiny screen and became mesmerized by the lightsabers and battle scenes. I spent the whole night fighting around my living room pretending to be a Jedi.
Can't say that I went out camping for tickets or dressed up as a wookie but I just did the traditional thing as a kid, when around pretending to be a Jedi, making sound effects and knocking lamps over.
Since then I've been a big fan of Star Wars (Not an original fan because I wasn't even born to see the originals in the cinema but old enough to see the prequel trilogy) -

My first experience was seeing Star Wars as a very young boy in a small theater in a vacation town in Michigan's Thumb area. Other than hearing my brother and his friend reading the opening text roll and being told to "Knock it off" by the people behind us, I remember it appeared larger than life to me at that young age. It wasn't long after that I got my first Star Wars action figure.

I experienced star wars at a very young age. My father grew up with them and in turn he allowed me to do the same. I first watched star wars, when i was very young, like under five years old. From then on i have been a life long fan. I've watched it every time it has been on tv, and own all of them on home video. My family owned the vhs set, I have the dvd's, including the original theatrical releases. I also have seen a ton of fan edits, and have a whole bunch of documentaries and what not on the saga. I even have a dvd that has all of the lightsaber battles on one dvd. The only premiere I was able to attend was the one for revenge of the sith. I waited on the streets of new york city for something like 6 or 7 hours, wearing my star wars shirt, just enjoying the feeling of being their with people who felt the same way I did. I am only 21, but star wars has been apart of my life, for going on more than 16 years now and I don't ever see it leaving my life. I sound like such a geek but I love this saga haha.
Keep Moving Forward!
I'm a lead farmer motherf***er!
Congratulations President Obama!
