'The Island' - High-Def Digest Review
Steve Seebacher has reviewed 'The Island.' He says this shows a different side of Michael Bay. This Blu-ray features excellent video, even better audio, and the same extras as the previous DVD. This is recommended.

is this a different transfer than the UK version?
Just wondering since I bought the import version already, but is this a new transfer? and is it a higher quality and worth the upgrade?
This format war is over. Spread the word that Blu is way better than DVD. Get High Def for your HDTV!

I hate Michael Bay, but I actually like this movie quite a bit.
Ewan McGregor is always excellent and MYYYYYY GAAAAAAAWD the things I'd do to Scarlett Jo would get me arrested in at least 50 countries.

I bought this Blu-ray a while back, and I must say I'm pretty pleased with it.

Four stars is a perfect score for this film. It's one of Michael Bay's best films, because it actually has a PLOT that makes you think a little bit. Sure, it steals a little bit from Logan's Run, but it does it so well that Logan's Run has become an obsolete film now.
My only problem with this movie, is that it does fall apart in the second half, and Michael Bay does eventually resort to his lowest common denominator action movie tactics, but the first half of the movie is so good that I really don't mind. -

Bought the import a while back, i love this movie. It looks amazing and has always blown me away with how sharp and how vivid the colors are. Not to mention Scarlett , she looks amazing in this movie.

You should listen to Michael Bay's commentary on the movie. He kept complaining about his efforts put into the movie and the movie didn't do well. He was almost killed while filming very close to an action scene. I also think Island was one of his better movies. But since the movie flopped, will Bay be willing to make another one that isn't so mindless like the Transformers. Or mindless non-stop explosion is the way for Bay to make successful movie that takes tons of money?

If anyone buys this release and has the UK version, can you please do a PQ and AQ comparison? I was hoping HD Digest would do that for us but nope. Or maybe you can direct me to a website that has compared both. I have the Uk version and would like to know if it's the same transfer and worth getting the US release.. It would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind, I went ahead and bought it. It's only $15.99 on amazon. If I get a chance I'll do a PQ/AQ comparison for those who are still curious.

Totally agree. Just read a link about her wanting to show off in that movie, and it's interesting that it was 5 years ago and to the best of my knowledge she hasn't taken her clothes off in any other movies.
What are these directors waiting for?
She is hot enough that I would buy 'Catwoman' levels of awful tripe just to have her hawt bod in 1080p for posterity, haha.

This is easily one of if not the best movie that Bay has done. If you didn't know who he was and watched this along with his other movies you woudn't know it was the same director. I got the import HD DVD awhile back and the video/audio is amazing. Don't think I will need to rebuy on Blu-ray.
