i wish a mod would reply to this, because i wanted to discuss the merits of Pearl Harbor as a HD disc and I hoped to have a good, solid discussion about its review. instead, i have to navigate the usual "HD-DVD is better" or "BD is better" crap.

Sorry but I think you are missing MY point Its not about BD vs HD DVD. Its about movie that for years have been a reference SD DVD. I would expect the PH BD would be top notch. Just strange when its 50 GB and not a full 5 star, thats all.

Thumbs up

I watched my copy last night and oh my god did it look really good!! Especially when the fight scene comes on. I would've watched it tuesday when I picked it up but when I got home around 10:30 I couldn't have turned on my surround sound. So when I got home from work yesterday I threw it on and just skipped to the attack!! It's one of the best looking one's I've seen on blu ray!!
Mischa.

I didn't even bother to watch anything before the fight scene. I skipped directly to that. I was like I've seen it before let me get the action!! Very happy I picked this one up. It is definitely a must own blu ray for the sound and the picture!! If you like the movie!!
Hope this helps.
Mischa.

This title isn't on Netflix OR Blockbuster online to rent on BluRay either. What gives? It shows up on Netflix as "release unknown'. On a completely unreleated note, "Speed" doesn't show up at Netflix on Bluray, but is available at Blockbuster.com Weird huh?

I got that with speed as well I eventually got it from blockbuster.com. I thought that was weird as well.

I'm getting that with scorpion king as well no place around here has it at all and it's been out for almost 2 weeks now. It's like what's going on? I was definitely going to pick that one up and I can find it. Then the one's that I do want are expensive as hell. Like transporter 1 & 2 are 35 a piece same as league of extraordinary gentlemen. It's like the stuff they have is really expensive and then they dont get the good titles in.

Default Chroma noise?

I just saw the movie in its entirety. I ddin't notice any chroma noise at all. (Quote Peter Bracke: "Unfortunately, chroma noise can be a glaring irritant.") If there had been irritating (= distracting) noise I guess I would have noticed it. I found the image quality picture perfect. IMO the movie was made to look exactly like it looked on this BD (and in the cinema if my memory serves). These were artistic choices by the director and the producer. It is not the fault of this disc that Michael Bay made Kate Beckinsale wear red lipstick (which I personally found quite attractive).
