We saw this in IMAX 3D and were blown away. Can't wait to pick this up.

Yeah, it's coming down to me actually biting the bullet and getting it. I'm all about style over substance sometimes.

I was going to see this in the theatre, in 3D, but never got to it. After reading this review, I'm kind of sorry that I missed it. Now I will have to check it out on Blu-ray.

I didn't see it because seeing the trailer approximately nine hundred times completely turned me off to it. It became a running joke with my friends. "We're going to the theater to see the Owls of Ga'Hoole trailer again followed by some movie."

Seriously. Overplayed. If I never have to listen to that song and see that stupid trailer ever again, I will die happy.

I took the family to watch the theatrical 3D version and thought it was great. I will definitely be picking this up once the price comes down a bit.

Added to Netflix queue. Looks visually stunning which I am a sucker for.

Side note, but I absolutely detest Happy Feet. And are the characters of How to Train Your Dragon really that great? sure, the movie is pretty good but an animated Jay Baruchel is still just Jay Baruchel.

    Interesting story to contribute...
The Blu is $19.96 in the Walmart ad effective 12/19 - 12/24 so I grabbed a copy this morning. I checked the price on a self scanner just to be sure and it was showing wrong, $24.96. When I got to the register I brought an ad with me and told the cashier it was ringing up wrong. She called her manager over to look and said it was the wrong item, I had the Blu + Dvd and the ad was for the Blu. At that point I pulled off the slip cover and then said "There, now the package on the counter looks exactly the same as what's in the ad." This manager would not budge so I left with nothing, all the other stuff that was in my cart stayed too. These managers behave as though it is their money going into the register and that I'm trying to rip them off. Upon getting home I promptly checked walmart.com to see if it was a localized glitch, it was not, .com showed the price wrong too, so I ordered it from Amazon.
I tried my part to support the local store (even though it's a large corporation) and it failed, oh well.

I was going to skip this movie, because of the fact that I don't like "300" or "Watchmen", and I'm not particularly fond of owls either...

However, I read the review, and knew I had to blind buy the movie when the reviewer stated that the movie was very close in tone/style to "Secret of Nimh." "Secret of Nimh" is one of my all time favorite movies, so I couldn't pass on watching this, based on that comparison.

Well, I watched this last night, and I have to agree with that comparison. The movie does give off a heavy "Secret of Nihm" vibe. The movie itself was SUPERB, and I feel that it is criminally underrated. This was a hundred times better than "How to Train Your Dragon!" and a million times better than that "Despicable Me" nonsense

My only complaint with this movie, is that there were a few too many characters, and it got confusing at times because some of the owls looked similar and they all had those "high fantasy" type names that made matters worse....

Overall though....big thumbs up on this one...I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5. Do something more to distinguish some of the owls', character wise, and this would have been a 5 out of 5. I really hope they make a sequel to this!
