Shrek Forever After seems to be priced higher than the average price for a new release. What gives??

Its worse than the article implies; the $41.99 version is the Single-Disc Edition. The Two-Disc BD/DVD Combo is $49.99.
I can only assume that the wholesale price to retailers will be higher than average as well, so we'll see how that affects actual street prices. Not surprised to see Dreamworks Animation trying a price hike though, they seem to be especially greedy (yes, even by studio standards). -

while its no reason to jack up the price so much, another website mentions that Part 4 will come with an extra disc containing the xmas tv special. so maybe thats why its listed so high. of course it wont be anywhere near that when it hits stores so it doesnt really matter.
but i only own Part 1 on dvd and never saw Part 4 so i'll gladly get the box set of this. they arent awesome movies but i enjoyed the first two, not sure if i saw the 3rd. lol plus CGI animated movies on blu always look great. -

Maybe Dreamworks wants out of Blu and the excuse they will use is they didn't sell enough units, of course forgetting to mention the prices were insane.

It's kind of amusing that Shrek the whole story roughly the same price as Forever After. I'd imagine the price on Shrek 4 will drop down to the 19.99 range when release date comes.
