Default 'Alexander: The Unrated Final Cut' -- pre-release buzz

Yikes, do we really need 45 more minutes of 'Alexander?'

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...lu-ray_Bow/395

In any case, I applaud Warner for continuing to support these redux editions. Can't wait for 'Blade Runner' myself, though...

I never did pluck up the energy to watch Alexander. I think I'l be even less inclined with a version that is 45 mins longer!

You have got to be kidding. I love to watch this movie after I watch Troy. It needs to be a lot longer. We should have seen at least one other time that "Dairius fled." There are huge gaps where there resulting in many crucial battles being omitted.

Sure it could be quicker and have more battles: show the "waves" of types of troops that Alexander pioneered. The battles in Troy touch on the concept, but Alexander should have shown it on a "Gladiator" scale. I wish that Stone would put incredible CGI effects into the final cut, really make people take notice that this is the dsc to get.

If one thinks that it is insulting to compare his work to his contemporaries, let me just say that if Stone is to challenge Scorsece for the best Director of this age, if not for all time, he needs to take a page from him: don't be afraid to take what works elsewhere and use it. Scorcese takes from Tarantino, and to a lessser degree, Eastwood, in The Departed. And it is quickly becoming one of his signature movies, now considered second only to Goodfellas, and Goodfellas might be the Best Movie Ever Made.

Probably one of the worst attempts of a historical film I think I've ever seen.

I saw Alexander in theaters and hated it. I only liked the parts that Angelina Jolie and Rosario Dawson were in. I may rent this if it has more battles and more Jolie but wi will not be buying this. Has nayone seen the new final cut? Does Jolie get more screen time?

Jolie does have some more screen time IIRC, but nothing that really stands out. The battle scenes aren't much different. They've just been moved to different positions in the movie.

If you didn't like it before, you're not going to change your mind.

I read that Ollie Stone says pretty much that in his introduction. I guess I won't like it, then - although I've only seen the Theatrical Version on DVD.

The DD @ 640kbps kills this one for me for sure.

The only thing that stands out in my mind about that movie was when he took on an elephant and rider near the end. Amazing cinematography...for about 60 seconds.
