supposedly this Fall this film is FINALLY coming out on bd.

a pre-order is up at amazon for "Kwai".
here's hoping this is finally it after a 4 year wait.

The features listed sound great, and legit:
35 page book with stories and photos from the production
Replications of the original lobby cards
Bonus DVD version of the movie
William Holden and Alec Guinness on The Steve Allen Show
Newly Discovered archival audio of William Holden Narrating The Bridge on the River Kwai Premiere
Crossing the Bridge: Picture-in-Graphics track and more

I particularly like that it'll be a digibook-style release: I love the packaging for the LE DVD from years back, and this'll likely be a handsome complement to Zhivago on the shelf. (Yes, they'll be together: I organize much of my collection by major directors when warranted. Yes, my wife thinks that's crazy and OCD too.)

Can't wait for this, or LoA.

Where are you getting that? I'd like it, too, if it's true, but I don't see any suggestion in the Amazon listing.

    First on the "features" list:
"35 page book with stories and photos from the production"

Sony released Midnight Express in a digibook-style package, which was promoted with similar verbiage to what's used here. I'm inferring, but I think safely.

At long last this finally looks to be on its way. David Lean's depiction of the human will set against an extreme environment will stay long in the mind of the viewer after watching.
Acclaimed as one of the greats and deservedly so.

yeah Lawrence got massively delayed because they weren't happy with how the restoration was coming out.
(at least that was the report)
It's pretty much guaranteed for next year.

Hmm... ok, but I've seen a fair number of BDs with similar "books" which come in a plastic case.

I didn't hear that was the reason it was delayed, do you have any more info? I really hope they insert the final few remaining scenes they didn't during the last restoration. This release is the one that I am most excited about, I really can't wait to see LOR on BD.

don't really have any more info, but that is certainly what I read from a number of different places.
if what I read was accurate, they definitely needed/wanted more time to get things the way they wanted.
not being any type of "insider", I can only pick up random info from my internet travels just like everyone else.
but you do get a sense of which people probably have decent info.
I wish I did know more.

I try to keep a tab on LOR and periodically search for any new info but always wind up with very little new other than a litany of posts everywhere stating "When is it coming to Blu Ray?!?!?!"

I hope they are doing it a good service with the new restoration. I don't think Robert Harris is involved though, is he? I did read a comment of his stating it would be very easy to add back the final few missing scenes, and I hope they do. A bit annoying they didn't last time.

Bill H. has now confirmed that "Bridge" is indeed coming out before the end of the year, as this pre-order indicated.
so we just need a date now.
