The movie had a paint-by-numbers plot, which is a sad thing as the screenwriter also wrote Beauty and the Beast. But it's far from a bad movie. Underland? I heard somewhere that was, at some point, a name in the original story(Though I never read it) and Alice confused it with "Wonderland". Oddly enough, though, my favorite bits are the scenes that are most Carrol-like, like the Garden Party and the Rabbit Hole(the whole opening in general was very good), as well as the end. Those scenes had a sense of Whimsy that was lacking in the rest of the film. makes one wonder if we werent just better off with another retelling of the original story.
But this is a passable film, if nothing more.
and there are a number of contributing factors to bad effects movies. among them are...
The director getting lost in asthetics(though there are plenty good CGI movies with lots of creativity)
Studio interference with the script
Studio decides what gets made/shuts out original content
tighter schedules
Fast Track Generation
maybe there *arent* many more bad movies today than there used to be. We just only remember the good ones.Last edited by ajmrowland; 10-01-2010 at 04:20 PM.
