Default Disney provides strong push for Blu-ray

Can't post the URL to this news from psu.com, so I just paste it in here:

I can post the URL though!

Quote:
In the recent release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest DVD, Disney displays a quick animated ad for its line up of Blu-ray movies coming soon.

Here is the list of movie titles:

- Beauty and the Beast
- Aladdin
- The Lion King
- Finding Nemo
- Snow Dogs
- Father of the Bride
- Sky High
- Remember the Titans
- Herbie: Fully Loaded
- National Treasure
- Around the World in 80 Days
- Pirates of the Carribean
and many more...

Now that Disney is showing full support for Blu-ray, this may be the extra push that Blu-ray needs to get ahead of the competition.
Just thought I'd start my membership at this forum with this great news

I'll probably be getting a PS3 for FFXIII mid next year, but I'd love Pirates in HD. Till then, HD DVD rulez!

I agree. Putting a commercial on the DVD's is nice...but give me a Disney BD that I actually want to own for crying out loud.

Side note: I got the Dead Man's Chests DVD and went to watch the deleted scenes (or blooper, can't remember off hand) and got a wonderful message that they were "Brought to you by Verizon". Which I thought was funny, cause I was pretty sure they were brought to me, by me, cause I paid for the disc. While all those clips are on the DVD, it could just be the BDA paying Disney for advertising using Disney clips for a Disney target market. ^.^

Has anyone ever stopped a second and thought about how Disney likes to treat it's movie releases??

You will never ever see "Lion King", "Beauty and the Beast", and "Aladdin" released in the same year as each other. Disney looooves to stagger their releases with their "Disney Vault". They'll have one movie out for 6-7 months, then "lock" that one up, release another movie for half a year, "lock" that up, and so on and so on.

What Disney is doing here is simply giving you a list of most of their most-loved titles and saying "Because these are our movies, and because we support Blu-ray, whenever these come out, they'll be on Blu-ray". Of course they trick you into thinking they'll all be out within a few months from now by saying "Coming Soon...", but how soon is "soon"?

I would think that the PotC movies come out next year plus one animated plus one classic movie. Everything else of their animation catalogue would surprise me a lot.
