I'm sorry to generalize but those who did not enjoy this film have either been expecting the next Citizen Kane or are cold-hearted, serious people who don't like to be entertained.

Weird eh? Can we compensate by running the LFE channel hot? Or does that mess up other levels? My thinking was in the theater that the LFE info was just not there. I've seen movies in that exact theater seat before and been blown away, so I knew it wasn't the equipment (which oftentimes, it is)...
**EDIT**
Oh wow, just actually READ the review and I'm glad you had the same experience I had. Its not just me! So the disc is 100% faithful to the source, so I also agree with the 5/5 score. Good stuff E.
The one slight limitation, which may or may not be observable by certain viewers, is an unconvincing low end, especially for such a loud popcorn flick. This is not to suggest that the bass is wanting or weak. As a matter of fact, it is quite accurate and at times particularly punchy and bombastic for those selected scenes of explosive eruptions. But there's something about the lower frequencies that never truly feels persuasive or all-encompassing. Many on-screen events, particularly the earthquakes sequences, appear to lack intensity and a realistic force which ideally should extend far into the room, yet they don't. Again, many may not think this a major impediment, but for those who love their bass, it's a bit of a letdown. If we simply ignore this one small nitpick, this lossless mix is pure reference quality, and one that will surely be used to demo the sound system.Intel i5 2500k (@4.7Ghz) + XFX Radeon 7970 3GB RAM! + 16GB DDR3 RAM (STEAM/Origin: Nealon_Greene)

Great review E. This is a love it or hate it kind of movie, but you stated solid reasons why you liked it and the video/audio sections are very highly detailed. Nice one!

is this where we poop on each other for liking one film but not another?

Honestly, if you can't enjoy this amazingly cheesy and awesome movie then you should really reconsider why you go to movies. To me, this movie is the epitome of a great blockbuster film that is as entertaining as it gets. The CGI was mindblowing, the sound was breathtaking and the plotline was fun. Seriously, just go into watching this movie with the mindset that it's mindless entertainment at it's finest and I'm sure you'll have a great time. I can't wait to see it on my 106"!

Can somebody please clarify the use of HD cameras in this movie? I'm not sure I understood that part of the review.

today i had a small accident with a tool i was using helping a customer remove a wheel from a motor. it snapped, and cut into my finger and palm in two different spots. hurt like a son of a bitch for a minute, after that it just bled, but was more funny than anything, as that had never happened before.
my point in sharing this? i also watched 2012 tonite. it wasn't funny once it was over, the pain i sat through. this film is NOT for everyone.
that said, enois's grades on this Blu-ray are SPOT ON. this is a great looking disc, though it has its flaws and quirks, and it sounds fucking awesome. it's a quality release, to be sure!Nate Boss
