I haven't watched the movie yet, just took some screencaps from here and there more or less randomly (though I tried to get good frames as usual). The PQ seems hazier / softer / less detailed than on the 2 previous CJ Entertainment releases including Memories of Murder by the same director. Those releases 001 and 002 did have very impressive PQ. Not sure if it's attributable to director's shooting style on this film or whether some filtering / DNR has been applied to the transfer.

I'll comment more about the PQ after I have watched the movie on my main setup.

I finally had time to watch this last night. I liked the movie itself very much, it was fairly similar to Memories of Murder in many aspects but still different enough and with a different focus / viewpoint. I still liked Memories of Murder more though, but this doesn't fall too far from it. Mother can be easily recommended for everyone who liked M.o.M.

I hope Joon-ho Bong would keep on doing more of these kind of films instead of big budget effect movies like The Host. According to IMDB he seems to be now working on a sequel to The Host though and possibly on a remake version as well, details of those seem to be only available in IMDbPro so I can't check more now.

PQ wasn't as good as on the other 3 CJ Entertainment BD releases for some reason, the movie looks a bit filtered, and the contrast is somewhat flat and there's also some EE. None of those issues is especially bad but they contribute to the PQ being a bit short from expectations for such a new film especially after the recent CJ Ent. release of M.o.M. looked so great. I'd give this about 3.5 / 5 for PQ. Audio quality was pefectly fine.
