Just ordered this, since I don't see a U.S. release on the horizon. If a U.S. release is announced before January, and its a good price, I'll cancel this order.

All my friends hate this movie, and say its trash, but I think its an undeniably fun action comedy, with a killer cast.

There has to be a US release coming then, too, though. I bet they just didn't want to announce it so close the sequel.

You forgot to mention most critics hate it as well.. no idea why a person would waste time (or money) on a cardboard cut-out movie like this in a saturated genre when true greats like Reservoir Dogs exist.. I have never seen a movie try so hard and still fall so far, it's really amazing in that regard.. one of my least favorites in any genre.

I agree that Reservoir Dogs is a true classic...I'm not going to argue with you there.

BUT, I honestly think that Reservoir Dogs and Smokin' Aces are trying to hit completely different SUBgenres. Reservoir Dogs is more of a SERIOUS crime drama, with hints of action thrown in. Meanwhile Smokin' Aces is more of a straight up, fast paced, action movie with hints of crime drama thrown in. So, I think they're different sub genres and they're aiming for different audiences. The title alone "Smokin' Aces" implies, on its own, that its not a movie that is supposed to be taken completely serious.

To each their own though, I can definitely understand the reasons why you loathe the film.

I'm not sure how reliable DVDEmpire's release dates are, but somebody on that other blu-ray website (btw, why does it get censored when I type in the name of that blu-ray site? weird) pointed out that they have this up for pre-order; with a release date of January 19th:

I've had my HD DVD for awhile too, and I got it for pretty cheap. I'm going to buy the Blu-Ray though, because I'm in the process of phasing out my HD DVD collection, so I will not have to leave two movie players hooked up to my T.V. at all times.

Plus it would be nice if there were new extras and an even nicer transfer (both of which are 99.99% likely NOT to happen)

haha...thanks for clearing that up too. It still seems like a strange rule to have.

Another message board I post at censors "bad words", and it will even censor words like "fart" and "porn" so it gets really annoying.
