Default Forbidden Planet

I log into my computer every day waiting to hear that Forbidden Planet is finally being released on Blu ray. You indicate that it is scheduled to be released in Oct. 2010. This is the first that I have acutally seen a release date for this title and I sure hope that you are correct.

I guess we're still waiting on a solid date for Ben-Hur...

At least it should be likely to show up in 2010.

Very, very happy to hear Mohicans is possibly on its way. The current DVD has decent audio and video (as far as SD goes, anyway), but is embarrassingly bare bones as far as extras. They also should include both cuts with seamless branching -- no reason not to.

I really hope they give this a nice transfer and throw on some good extras. Maybe a featurette on Daniel Day Lewis and his extreme method process, or something on the actor Russell Means, who has a very interesting background. Maybe something on the weapons of the time, history of the French and Indian War, and tactics of colonial warfare versus the Indians' proto-guerrilla combat tactics.

Seems a little odd to be putting out a 2001 special edition, however. The current Blu Ray is now only two years old, and will be three years old by the time this SE is slated to come out. The PQ and AQ seem about as good as you can ask for, and HDD gave the extras 4 stars. If they've got some really fantastic extras, they probably should have put them on the first BD.

EDIT: Of course, I am assuming that WB will also bring these titles stateside.

I think The Never Ending Story and The Rooke sound good to me, but I think Ghost Ship and Lethal Weapon 2 have been released.

Perhaps not in Germany, where this list originated from.
