Amazon has had Finding Nemo on its site for over a year, when it missed a previous date. The 1st May date is almost definitely a placeholder and Play hasn't even got it listed. I would expect to see Nemo this year though.

I too remain cautious on this one, given the previous dates that have come and gone, and yes a Play.com listing would be very welcome, indeed.
However, with the arrival of artwork and the same listings on Blah and 101cd, something is definitely stirring....

No need to get your hopes up. It won't be released on May 1st.

The cover is fairly recent, the link has run mostly without any artwork for ages which is why I have picked up on this recent artwork addition.
The other sites adding listings with the same date are more recent too. However, other UK sites are now showing this artwork but with no date...

I remain cautiously hopeful but there is one inconsistency which still hangs over this particular date. May the 1st is a Saturday and UK new releases tend to hit the streets on a Monday. Exceptions have been made in the past but at the moment this remains the biggest question mark over whether we will see this appear on that particular date...

That pre-order page has been up for nearly two years, if not even longer. During that time, the same things that you pointed out have happened:
There has been early/unofficial artwork before. It was removed and re-added again recently.
Other sites have also been listing "Finding Nemo" before. Those entries were eventually removed and have been re-listed again recently.

It is a completely random date with random price tag and unofficial artwork.

And, just for fun, I'm going to add a bunch of links that state that it is coming out on January 1st 2020:

"Just for fun" be aware that a date like that is UK site speak for no fixed date....
Funny too how most of those sites (plus the already mentioned) though have the same or very similar "unofficial artwork" and no one is referring to it it as temporary or to be confirmed like they normally do when artwork is of a temporary nature... And just to repeat, the Amazon link has for the most part largely been without artwork - until recently.
A coincidence of course.

Exactly, and how does it differ from what Amazon has been doing? It doesn't. Amazon just uses dates that are only one year in the future, not ten years, and therefor they have to change the date every year.

Personally I believe that this will materialise here in the UK this year. This date would be nice but there are still some doubts hanging over that though, even though the recent artwork additions and links spice up the possibility of....
Whenever it gets released, like Monsters Inc it will probably be Region Free and if it is before the US date by some months then you may well be tempted to import this. Don't doubt that it will be a great looking

In Amazon's case the difference is that artwork has recently appeared and other sites have started to list the date and artwork too. Normally there is a mention that artwork is temporary but not in this case. And wait a minute, Amazon.co.uk does NOT usually use dates that are one year in the future for unreleased stuff but instead does not tend to list things at all. If you go to Amazon.com, you will find placeholders for Star Wars, Aliens etc on but they do not have dates.
That does not happen with the UK site - no place holders at all as a rule, unless a date has been announced and then changed eg Nemo.

Actually, that sounds about right for Disney's "If we spoon feed them only one or two big catalog release per year on blu-ray, everyone will rush out to buy it, 'cause there's no other Disney blu-rays for them to buy" corporate philosophy.
