I sometimes get concerned the studio's crop a film, can this framing be explained by open matting?

I read that the BD MASH has the M&H partily cropped in the opening title so I guess it does happen.

Open matte is a different thing, where the original film has been shot e.g. in 1.85:1 aspect ratio and framed e.g. to 2.35:1 for theatrical release by cropping out a part of the picture and then opened up in some home video releases to show the originally shot 1.85:1 image, which is not the intended threatrical aspect ratio but shows more of the originally shot video image data.

In this case both BD releases are 2.35:1 but there's more image content in the Mondo version, so it's not an issue of opening up the frame to a different aspect ratio.

Hopefully it works out well Seems that he had to do quite a bit of audio editing to get it synchronized as the Italian cut and MGM release have many little differences in various scenes. Will try to do subs as well of course, probably takes a bit of work to match the timings.
Kannisto - In the discussion of the HDD review in the main blu-ray software forum, someone asked about releases in other countries and I checked imdb. According to them, there is a Swedish release not done by Fox -

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060196/companycredits
Svensk Filmindustri (SF) (2009) (Sweden) (DVD) (Blu-ray)

I checked a couple of Scandinavian sites and they only seem to carry the US import. Have you ever heard anything about this Swedish release?

The Swedish release is just distributed by SF Film but it's actually the same MGM release. For example the case pics here show it:

http://www.discshop.se/shop/ds_produ...e=bluray&&ref=

And it's listed like this in discshop.se when you press "Visa utökad info" to see more details:

SF (MGM)
I'm not aware of any other releases besides MGM (lots of countries) and Mondo Home Entertainment (Italy only).
