Visconti's The Leopard (UK BD) on the 10th May 2010

One of the most acclaimed films of all time, and certainly one of my faves, The Leopard is to get a release in the UK on the 10th of May 2010:
Set in 19th Century Italy at a time of violent social upheaval, it follows the fortunes of an Italian Prince and his family as they have to deal with revolution and very changing times.
Simply one of Burt Lancaster's greatest roles, with very able support from the likes of Claudia Cardinale, Alain Delon, and Terence Hill.

This is mastered from the original 70mm negatives and is completely uncut.
Overseeing this restoration is the film's director of photography Guiseppe Rotunno. This will be a Day One purchase for yours truly.

Amazon.co.uk has it as February the 15th 2010 but I think I will go with Play.com and Moviemail on the date.

very excited about this release.
actually thought I had made a thread about this release but I guess not.
UK has got the good releases this Fall as far as I'm concerned.

Given Amazon.co.uk's track record with dates, I will go with Play.com and Moviemail...

I saw this in an HMV store today for £19.99 so it is out!

BFI rules!
any word on region locking?
I assume it is since Criterion has the US rights.
not that it will effect me, but I would like to know for info purposes.

That 101cd listing has it as Region B, but then online retailer listings aren't very reliable. Ah, so this is a BFi? I was going to say it needs to come down in price a bit before I bite, but now I know it's BFi, I'll just wait for inevitable £10 sale . .

I strongly suspect that it is locked to Region B.
