Default More Hitchcock!!: "The 39 Steps": UK: October

http://www.amazon.co.uk/39-Steps-Blu...174162&sr=1-32

any Hitchcock is good Hitchcock imo.
this ones a classic from 1935, and has a Criterion release on sd dvd.
Looks to be an ITV release.
They have been--other than Warner--the best studio for true classics imo.
A few of there recent titles have been locked so that is a possibility unfortunately.
(won't affect me, but I'll hope for the best for other people)

Tragic news!
apparently ITV has struck out with this bd.
bd.com review is awful.
looks like ITV used the same material they used for their old dvd or something else must have gone horribly wrong.
I'm so bummed about this.
I was going to order my copy tomorrow.
ITV has had such good discs until apparently this one.
really strange that this is so poor.
I sure hope "Hamlet" and "Henry V" aren't messed up.

interesting post from a member on AVS.
seems to address quality issues brought up by pro-b--

I'm kind of torn now--
I wish I knew if Criterion is going to tackle this one anytime soon.
guess I'll probably order this one soon anyway.

another review--
seems clear this could be better, but seems clear that this is not just an upconvert.

The 39 Steps has never looked better at home, but it isn't great either.
