Warner Japan will release Goemon, the latest film from Casshern director Kazuaki Kiriya on Blu-ray Disc on October 9th. It will be available as a standard edition (one BD) and a limited edition 'Ultimate Box' with a bonus BD and a storyboard booklet.

Probably won't have English subtitles but this one should look great in HD!
Distribution rights for Germany and France have already been sold, TF1 Video will release it in France in November.

Got this today, no English subs as expected.

It looks heavily stylized like Casshern so the PQ is probably a bit varied. Looked very interesting from what I managed to peak so far.

I think it's region free but AnyDVD HD couldn't determine it reliably and I have no region B hw players. There are no region A symbols to be found on the case or disc anyway and it's released by Warner so I think it's most likely region free. Seems to work also when I set AnyDVD HD to emulate region B.

I watched the movie last night and really enjoyed the visuals and audio aspects. The movie has really great visuals, blending CGI with real live action and there's a lot of artistic use of enhanced colors and contrast. The PQ has very good level of detail, though some scenes are a little softer than others just because of the heavy stylization. The story was a bit hard to follow without English subs as it's quite complex and uses many historical characters and old style language.

I hope to be able to watch it again with English subs sometime later on.

I hope Nero Showtime caps got the colors right, it's fairly hard to say as they are so enhanced, but everything looked quite marvelous on my main display. Audio is really strong too.

I think English subs will be found sooner or later

This disc had also a PIP video commentary by the director and some interviews, and a bunch of trailers and TV spots. Also some background information in text form explaining all the involved historical characters etc. in the extras but only in Japanese. Pretty solid release except for the lack of English subs.

Looks like subscene.com has now English subs for Goemon (in 2 parts). Great

EDIT: The timings of those subs look pretty much identical to corresponding Japanese subtitle timings on the Japanese Blu-ray so these are easy to use. I joined the subtitles from the 2 files with Subtitle Workshop (without automatically modifying timestamps in the process) and afterwards added delay of 01:05:22,989 to subs from line 709 to end. That should pretty much do it in comparison to Japanese disc's timestamps.

First line in 2nd part becomes:

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't paid attention to the line lengths as usually .srt subs have already linebreaks in appropriate places. I'll have to check them and do some editing before I finalize it for watching.

Yeah, as you hated Casshern I think you wouldn't like this one either as this also has a lot of CGI in somewhat similar style, but on a bigger budget.
