1080p50 is not among the encodings that are supported in Blu-ray specifications. Maybe the player is sending the original 25 fps frames to the projector so that each frame is repeated once, turning it into 1080p50 stream. I think it's somhow possible for the content to be encoded on the disc with 25 progressive frames per second and the stream tagged as 1080i50, as 1080p25 is not part of Blu-ray specs either. That would make it pretty much equivalent of 1080p25 but tagged as 1080i50. I'm not 100% sure on how it works though. Real 50p would require a lot more space too as there'd be twice as many frames to encode.

I watched this last night (and the previous night) in two parts. The movie was excellent, I thought it improved a lot on the 2nd half as I wasn't overly impressed yet after watching the first half. (I had to stop in the middle initially because my early converted 1080p24 version lost audio in the middle of the movie to my surprise.)
For those who enjoyed this movie I'd also recommend Flammen & Citronen, there's a recent UK Blu-ray of that as well: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Flame-Citron...dp/B0027UY88G/ It's a fairly similar story about Danish resistance in WWII, and I thought it was an excellent movie as well. I have the original Danish release of that one which didn't include English subs. That one was also 1080i50 so the UK release might be like that too if they re-used the Nordic encode. Somebody should check to confirm. In the end I managed to turn Max Manus to 1080p(24/1.001) properly by adding a deinterlacing step (from 1080i50 to 1080p25) to my workflow before remuxing. Converted to 1080p24/1.001 in the remuxing procedure. Deinterlacing took some 9 hours on my PC (using RipBot264) though but didn't require any manual intervention after it started. The end result was very smooth and enjoyable on my PS3 setup and it ran on the correct theatrical framerate unlike the original BD which runs 4% faster

A friend in Norway bought it form a local store called Lefda ( http://www.lefdal.com ) and mailed it to me. He said no Norwegian webshops ship outside Norway/Scandinavia.
