Just pre-ordered all 3 films. A bit pricey, but when you consider these are limited edition steelbooks well worth the cost. Also being Warner releases chances these will be region free is almost 100%.

Looks like these have been delayed. No release dates available now.

Wasn't planning on picking up the theatrical versions but steelbooks are very tempting...

Maybe someone will do a group buy.

From what I can tell the street date is November 27, 2009. I dont know the German language but the date is easy enough to see. I dont know if this date is different from the date it was originally promised for. Anyone know?

It says 'You will be informed by email when the article is available' which is not what it said when originally listed months ago. This is only usually quoted when the release date (27th November) is unconfirmed. This happened with the A.I Blu Ray last month and now it has been indefinitely postponed.

I got it also. I might cancel it and wait for the theatrical releases that I even have never seen. On the other hand a Lord Of The Rings collection in Steelbook would look very good in my collection. Difficult, difficult decision..

Damn it. This totally sucks. The only reason I was going to get the theatricals was due to the Steelbook cases. This blows big time. Well if they aren't released on Steelbook I won't be buying them at all and will wait for the Extended Editions-they just made the decision easy for me because as I said I only was getting them for the Steelbooks.

On a side note, this past weekend I watched all 3 Ring movies (the extended cuts) on my new 70" display and while the picture was "ok" it didn't look all that good at all. My previous tv was only 47 inches and they looked really good on it but NOT on the larger screen. I really can't bring myself to watch standard def dvds anymore. They look so damn inferior now. So funny coz I couldn't tell how bad they looked on my old tv before coz it was smaller.

Yep, that's gonna happen. I assume you are upscaling though? I only ever watch DVDs on my 40" display. I use the projector for the hi-def goodies.

Oh yeah I upscale and on 3 different machines with basically the same results. That's the one downside in having a larger screen. Blu-ray has spoiled me badly.
