Default Korean Blu-Rays - Where are they?

    Hi,

Has anyone heard of any more Blu-Rays in the pipeline for South Korea? The DVDs originating there have always been of excellent quality and reasonably priced, so I had high hopes for Korean Blu-Rays.

But after an inital strong showing (Welcome to Dong Mak Gol was fantastic), they've dried up it seems.

    Sad.
Any film shot on film will benefit from HD

I agree, there are so many great Korean films that need to come to Blu-ray. Sad that we haven't seen more yet.

I guess Blu-ray hasn't made a big splash in Korea so far. I too would like to see much more Korean films on BD. There are some more Korean movies on BD in Europe though.

Also the one Korean Web store that I started to use and like seemed to disappear altogether...

Would be nice to get for example a lot of Kim Ki Duk movies in HD. I managed to record "Time" from Japanese HDTV but since there are only Japanese subs it's a bit difficult to follow.
Blu-ray: 450 (new: [REC]2 (JP), Avatar (JP), Cargo (DE), Salvador (DE), Bubba Ho-Tep (DE) ; list)
HD DVD: 388 (new: Project Papo (JP), Taking Lives, Moonlight Jellyfish (JP), Resident Evil (JP) ; list)
HD DVD-R: 380 (new: The Chaser, Zebraman, Drop (2009), Platoon ; list)

I only want to see Taeguki (if I spelled that correctly) aka brotherhood of war cos I thought that was great and in HD would be better too! I know sensasian.com sells it but you have to pay shipping on it unlike the HK movies they sell which is free shipping.

as far as i know, there is only welcome to dongmakgol, taegukgi, the host, oldboy, and a korean documentary series that is on blu-ray from korea. i really wish they would at the very very least squeeze out JSA (joint security area) and A Bittersweet Life on blu-ray before they finally throw in the towel. if there were ever any korean films that deserved blu-ray treatment, it would be those 2. oh, and A Tale of Two Sisters as well.

Really? I'd much prefer Hot for Teacher or Dasepo Naughty Girls. Two of my favorite comedies.
