I read from your signature that you just bought Max Manus.
Can you shed me some light on playability on a US PS3??

Many thanks, sorry for this.
Well, Max Manus is on the way from Amzon UK, but hasn't arrived yet - I expect it later this week. But as Kanisto indicated it is known to be 1080i50. Although my LG BH200 and Panasonic projector can handle 50Hz, this is my first purchase of a 1080i50. I'll definitely post my impressions.

Thanks for clarifying. Yeah, just like it says in the review--it was marketed as a region B disc, so that's what I was going by.

For me UK is my prefered merchant since the delivery time is only 3 days to reach Indonesia.......German's amazon will take me close to 2 months

2 months from Amazon Germany?? You must be exaggerating.

I am in Australia and regularly order from Amazon Germany, and I normally receive my order in 2-3 weeks from dispatch. Amazon UK is certainly the quickest, usually received within a week. But you do realise Amazon UK now uses two carriers to send out their packages. One of which is in fact Deutsch Post, and I have already had one package sent using this carrier and it took me 2-3 weeks to receive it just like my order from Germany. So even if you order from Amazon UK, there is still a chance your movie may be sent using Deutsch Post.

I even emailed them asking if I choose to have all my Amazon UK orders sent using Royal Mail, and their customer agent replied advising their system currently do not allow me to choose.

In any case, good luck. I ordered the Amazon UK version, can't wait to get it

Amazon Germany's Deutsche Post shipping is occasionally really slow, I got 1 package from there that took about 2 months on the way too. A few others reported very slow deliveries around the same time as well. Usually it's faster though but less consistent than UK and France.

Oh OK, I was beginning to wonder if it was the Indonesian customs that were perhaps holding up the packages.

I have had more than 1 dozen packages from Amazon Germany, touch wood, none has been more than 3 weeks thus far. The last package was dispatched on 17/06, it is nearly two weeks and I still haven't received it. Hopefully it will arrive in the next week or so, that is my expectations anyway. And their estimate delivery date was 2nd of July.

Amazon Uk has a review that seems to indicate the German and UK editions are the same. Going as far as to say the if the German menu is picked there is an additional special feature not listed in the English menu. Strange.

Also eveyrone seems to either seems to love the transfer or hate it.

Sounds a little half-baked. Like the first Highlander DVD, doubt many remember what a turky that first DVD was.

It's most definitely the same disc -- the opening menu enables you to select which region to view the disc on. If you choose the UK, you get the Optimum logo upon start-up. If you choose other portions of Europe, you get Studio Canal. And on and on. Quite obviously this one disc is going out to most of the world (Japan, Australia, etc. are all listed as options on it as well), and there won't be any differences between them since it literally will be the exact same release.

My Amazon.de copy came yesterday. I am thrilled personally with the transfer. Yes there are some excessively grainy moments -- but that is a direct result of how the movie was filmed. There's lots of additional detail over the DVD editions, the colors and overall image are far better than I expected the movie looking in HD. Definitely worth it!

I didn't check the region before I sent the disc off to another reviewer but Grant, who is also a member on here, has it down as region free. Hopefully he can confirm. Regardless, here is our review:

Highlander: Immortal Edition (UK)

I imagine what that sets is the menu language - UK=English & Optimum logo, Germany=German & Kinowelt logo, France=French & Studio Canal logo. If it's like the Studio Canal HD DVDs, then that will save a cookie on your player, and future Optimum/Kinowelt/Studio Canal release will read that cookie and default to your previous selection. Very handy. And these common releases free us to pick the country with the best value - with the strength of the Euro and UK shipping costs, it's the U.K. for me.

Morning all,

I'm happy to report that the Optimum, UK edition of Highlander is REGION A/B.

I tested the disc in my Region A PS3 as well as my LG BH200 on Region A and B.

This is a near gorgeous transfer that should most assuredly please fans!

Best,

-Grant
