The 2.0 channel DD audio track is some kind of commentary track. The other 2 are for the movie audio.Last edited by kannisto; 04-03-2009 at 10:52 AM.

I didn't have time to watch the movie yet, but I checked it a bit and I noticed that the music is composed by Lisa Gerrard. Her was voice quite recognizable from the music that playes during the beginning. That's a big plus for me since I like her music very much as part of Dead Can Dance and as a solo artist.
It seems the director Fumihiko Sori is a kind of fan of hers as well since he used DCD's music in his previous movie (Vexille) to some extent and on the extras he elaborates his idea of getting Lisa Gerrard to compose the music for this movie. Apparently he was initially very impressed by her music on Gladiator. Lisa Gerrard makes an appearance on the "Making of Music" extra on the bonus disc.
The main disc includes no other extras except access to 3 sets of chapter lists which are all organised differently + a commentary track.
One thing I wasn't perfectly happy with is that the AC3 "core track" is only 448 kbps and I'm stuck with that since I have an optical out based audio setup. It wouldn't be an issue for those who have a full audio setup though.
The included SD DVD (NTSC and locked to region 2) is an extras disc (all in Japanese, no English):
- Making of (75 minutes)
- Making of Visual Effects (15 minutes)
- Making of Music (10 minutes)
- Deleted scenes with optional director commentary (18 minutes)
- Promotion (Japan premiere etc.) (21 minutes)
- 2 trailers + 3 TV spots (3 minutes) -

This actress looks very familiar. I have only watched one or two Jap TV series before but I am quite sure this is the same actress in the TV series that I watched. It was a TV series aired in 2006 from memory. I was in Tokyo for holiday at the time when they were airing it on TV from memory.
She plays a daughter of a rich man who is head of a big corporation. And she had some sort of illness. She fell in love with a young man who works as some sort of welder at a boat factory. Her father found out she is seeing this young man who is unfit to date his daughter and forbids them from seeing each other. She lives in a high rise building and he basically lives at the factory down at the dock so they flash torchlights at each other at night. Don't know if kannisto knows this TV series or not, perhaps someone might and can confirm if it is the same actress? I don't even know the name of this TV series!!

This is her (Haruka Ayase's) filmography from IMDB, it includes some TV series. Maybe it's one of those from 2006 or a bit earlier:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1480573/
I don't watch Japanese TV series much so I can't say which one it might be based on your description. IMDB is also very scarce with details on a lot of Japanese movies and TV shows.
I watched the movie last night and I guess I missed some story details because there weren't any English subtitles. It seemed pretty interesting overall. The performances were a bit superficial though, no deep character development. I noticed also that Ichi seemed to always have full make up on although she is a blind vagabond traveling through the country in ragged clothes.
The swordfights are pretty nice. Some of the baddies are pretty colorful characters. The music was very nice too. I hope to find English subs for it sometime later to watch it again with those.

Haha.. found it from the wiki link provided, it is the same actress.

The name of the TV series I saw was "Tatta Hitotsu no Koi" or translated in English as "Just One Love / Love of my Life". Wiki page here definitely has more info than IMDB.
I looked in the 2006 series to start with. This is the first paragraph of the Wiki sypnosis which gave it away. The ship repair factory bit.
A story of pure love between the son of a man who runs a ship repair factory beset with financial troubles and the well-bred daughter of a national jewelry chain store owner. The backdrop of the story is Yokohama. -

Her first solo album from 1995 "The Mirror Pool" is excellent and fairly similar to DCD. After that she's been focusing more on soundtrack albums though, I didn't really like her later solo album "The Silver Tree" quite as much. I do like her soundtrack work quite much though, for example for Gladiator and Insider.
This is here wiki page as a solo artist:

Finally ordered Ichi a few days ago, it hasn't shipped yet though. Bought the DVD Cyborg She with Haruka Ayase a while back. The movie is a quite OK sci-fi/drama. The Japanese DVD has English subtitles, shame there wasn't a BD version released as well.
I've now listened to The Mirror Pool and it's very good, very beautiful music. -

I didn't realize Haruka Ayase was in this. She was hot in My Girlfriend is a Cyborg/Cyborg She, although the movie itself was only average. In her new movie, she plays a young teacher who offers to shows her students her boobs if they can win the big volleyball tournament. Only in Japan...
