Yeah I think he bought it though for that review. I have not seen any other reviews of Canada-only releases.

I mean we'd have to use snowmobiles to move the discs around and such and that is just too much work to do for a Blu-ray review during beaver hunting and hockey season up here.

Just to be safe, I'll post this here too.

Can you even buy YPF anywhere anymore?

I've been wanting to buy it but it's not on Amazon.ca anymore, not new, and I can't find anyone with it used for sale!

Looks like someone over at Blu-ray.com received Se7en and Rounders.

Nice - does anyone have the actual disc specs yet? I still might go out and look for Seven and Rounders today.

It's back in stock at AMZ.ca.

Well according to a post at Blu-ray.com, Se7en on Blu-ray from Alliance it is indeed 1.78:1 but it is also 1080p. The only packaging mistake appears to be that it's actually 1080p instead of the 1080i listed.

So the actual disc specs are 1.78:1/1080p/DTS HD MA 5.1

Uh-oh. So is this officially the first "fool" screen Blu-ray? Se7en's aspect ratio is supposed to be 2.35:1.

Surely it isn't the very first one on Blu-ray is it? But this is still disappointing and I'll pass on this one now.

It will be interesting to see if any upcoming US release is any different. I would guess it will be the same but who really knows.

I have no knowledge at all of a 2.35:1 movie being released at that aspect ratio. I know some other movies have been giving a slightly different aspect ratio just to avoid black bars on the sides of the screen but this one is major. That's part of why Blu-ray has been so great for me I hated fullscreen DVD's.

No. I believe Alliance did the same thing with Hostage. There's a German version of American Psycho that's been opened up.

It's definitely not the first instance.

Pretty lame. Se7en has a much bigger fanbase though and I am sure much more are gonna be upset by this. WB better not follow suit.

If it's really 1.78:1 then the people from Alliance are a bunch of boneheads! I think everybody is going cancel their pre-orders now. In this day and age releasing a film like SEVEN on with the wrong aspect ratio is just plain ridiculous. I'm pissed off about this, but what you going do? I'm not going to buy it now.

Alliance does not care. They have a contract to release these titles in a certain time frame so they are - and making a killing. Blame Disney and Newline for not following through with their original plans to release these titles domestically.

If the AR is 1.78:1 I'll be passing on Se7en.

FWIW, I don't believe a major movie studio has ever done this.
