I was under the understanding that this was filmed at 2.35:1, imDb.com lists it as that as well.

My blu-ray has it listed at 1.78:1, I haven't opened it yet but I bet it is cropped.

Both our comments are about Fanboys. Fanboys is 1.85:1 OAR, and the Blu-ray is not cropped.

You are talking about Outlander. The Blu-ray is 1.78:1, but the OAR is 2.35:1. Outlander has been confirmed to be cropped.

Duh, sorry... Okay that makes sense.

Just thought I'd post something for all of us.

The US Release of Friday the 13th ( 2009 ) is being New Line Cinema, which means that our Canadian Version will be release by Alliance. Now, in theory there shouldn't be any difference between the US and Canadian because it is a non-Alliance exclusive release... though we did have a slight issue with our version of The Wrestler.

I will be picking up this movie come Tuesday ( along with the other Friday movies ), and I'll post anything that I notice with the Alliance version.

The Alliance and New Line/Warner versions should be exactley the same. I know releases like Final Destination, The Wedding Singer, and American History X are the same for both US and Canadian releases.

Picked up my copy of Friday the 13th (2009) today. I havn't watched it yet, but the good news is that Alliance hasn't put any of their logo's on it so we're in the clear!

Yep, got my copy of Friday the 13th as well; no Alliance logos to be found (which I still think was a little odd).. I must say, it's the WORST horror film that I've seen since Automoton Transfusion. The only good thing about Friday the 13th was the guy who played Trent; flippin' hilarious! But the movie itself was crap. They could've remade this properly, making it into a great suspense-horror flick, but instead it just looked like the script was written in a couple of hours; it looked like very little thought and effort was put into this movie. Just an all around lousy job by everyone involved (except for the guy that played Trent of course). Video was good and audio was alright though. But, I can't believe I wasted $35 plus tax on this garbage. Ah well, I've learned my lesson now.

And in other news, I also picked up a new release on blu-ray called "One Week" (released by a company called Mongrel Media). It's a Canadian blu-ray exclusive. I've never heard of it 'til I bought it. It stars Joshua Jackson.
Here's the description on the back: When confronted with his mortality, Ben Tyler (Joshua Jackson) impulsively buys a vintage motorcycle and sets off on a road trip that starts in Toronto and ends up on Vancouver Island in the town of Tofino. Humorous, profound and extremely moving, One Week uses the great Canadian landscape as the backdrop to the story of a man and his life's journey. In the search for himself, he finds out what makes this counrty, and his life, so beautiful.
Apparently the movie got great reviews, so I'm really looking forward to watching it sometime in the next few days when I have some free time. By the sounds of it, it seems like it's sort of a cross between The Motorcycle Diaries and Into The Wild.
It has 5.1 DTS HD-MA, featurettes, interviews, commentary, photo galleries, and the film's theatrical trailer (some extras are in HD). It doesn't say if it's 1080p though, however I'm going to guess that it is 1080p. I'll post my comments on the film and the transfer after I've watchd it.

I picked it up at my local Wal-Mart for $31. HOWEVER, I found out later that day that you can get it at Amazon for about $28. I continue to hear nothing but good things about this film. I'm going to have to watch it tomorrow.

Yeah, that makes sense. Just wondering though; does Allaince still have the rights to release New Line catalogue titles? I see Final Destination 2 and 3 are coming out within the next month or so.

Yes. The Alliance deal was for 1 year... IIRC, September 08 to September 09. What you see being put out by Alliance is what Newline originally planned for Blu-ray here in the states.

Ohhhhh okay. I see now. So after that, New Line and Alliance are basically done with each other then. But I take it Alliance would still be able to release Miramax, Dimension, and Weinstein content, correct?
