I was at Wal-Mart today and I saw the Fanboys blu-ray and DVD discs there. So I checked them out. This may piss some of you off......

The blu-ray version is 1.78:1...whereas the DVD version is 2.35:1.
No extras are listed on the back of the blu-ray release...whereas there are extras listed on the DVD release (although there still is a good chance that there are extras on the blu-ray release and Alliance just didn't bother listing them on the back {the same they did for Outlander})

The extras really aren't on the Blu-ray. How freaking hard is it to port the existing standard def extras? Pretty ridiculous.

But thankfully the OAR problems you hint at are just a misprint - on the DVD this time! The film's OAR is 1.85:1, so the Blu-rays 1.78:1 transfer should be correct (as correct as the countless other 1.85:1 films opened up slightly to fill 1.78:1 - see EVERY WB and Paramount 1.85:1 release ever).

Ahh, okay. 1.78:1 is the correct OAR then.

I checked the mailbox after my last post, Fanboys was in, and I just finished watching it now. Video and audio are okay at best. The movie was nothing special either. Might as well just get the DVD if you're really interested in this one.
To sum up with a grading system...
Movie: 2.5/5
Video: 3.25/5
Audio: 3.5/5

I still can't believe the DVD extras aren't on this blu-ray release.

the few times I've used amazon.ca I've had to SODSign On Delivery the items which can be rather frustrating as the mail often come around 1pm when no ones around. so is there anyway to avoid this prehapps a different delivery method. as I've used just the basic shiping in the past which id suspect is ground so the border crossing is what's causing it... its not to bad just I get the little letter saying I can pick it up in 24hrs from the post office or wait 48hs for redelivery...

there's about for blu's I want right now

Well I know with some of the shipping companies, you can get a tag on your mailbox which they scan, and that acts as your signature.

I'm not 100% sure if USPS has it, you probably want to check with them.

Some specs for Cop Land...
1080p, 1.78:1, theatrical cut, 5.1 DTS HD-MA, no extras

And wow; FD2 and FD3 July 7th, huh? Awesome. I think I'll be picking those up.

Default Two words... GET OUTLANDER!!!

Alright folks... it's been awhile since I posted these forums. Doesn't mean I'm not as committed to the world of high-def as the next guy... doesn't mean that I'm not addicted to tracking down the blu-ray sales or scouring the net for every single available review regarding a movies failings or successes with its presentation.

But sometimes, you just gotta plunk the movie into your player, sit back with a beverage and a big bowl of popcorn, and watch the d@mn show.

I just finished watching Outlander...a blind buy after hearing about it for the first time in forum chatter only a few weeks ago, and watching the very intriguing trailer online.

What a frickin' FANTASTIC show! Great concept, great acting, great presentation. And guess what? GREAT PICTURE!!! Amazing clarity that compliments the footage and the effects. And not ONCE did I think "gee...I think they cut out the picture. Am I missing something here?"

If you put this off because you're waiting for the "Absolute Best Intended Edition As Created By The Gods Of Blu-Ray" regarding either the aspect ratio or the fact that French is on the box...you're JUST...PLAIN...MISSING OUT.
This movie DIDN'T come to many theatres... a lot of people DON'T know about it... and that needs to CHANGE! Jim Cavaziel is perfect, the characters all make you care, the scenery is breathtaking, and the effects are beyond passable. They kick @ss!

To sum up, if you're a true MOVIE fan, and appreciate the new level of movie watching high def has brought to your home, trust me... THIS DISC, AS RELEASED will entertain you. If it doesn't, the stats of bit-rates and aspect ratios have destroyed your movie loving soul long ago.

Thanks to the Outlander gang for making my movie night.

Just a notice to everyone. I saw in the FutureShop Flier ( or was it Best Buy ) that CSI: The Complete First Season is coming out on Blu-Ray to Canada.

Courtesy of Alliance I presume ( though I had thought Alliance sold their rights to CSI ). I'm not picking it up, but it SHOULD mirror the US Version so:

Picture: 1080i
Aspect Ratio: 1.78:1
Audio: Dolby TrueHD 7.1

Yeah, too bad about that price and I hope they don't put the French on the actual cover.
