Why is the US version of The Excorcism of Emily Rose listed as PG-13 when the cover shows Unrated?

Someone had told me that info, plus I checked on this sites reviews and they both say PG-13. If you have the US disc and confirm it is infact "R", let me know.

"R"? You mean Unrated.

Does anyone know where to get the Dutch import of Reservoir Dogs? Free Record Shop and Mediadis don't have it and Xploited only has the HD DVD (my HD DVD player doesn't decode DTS-HD MA).

That's one option. I don't really know anywhere else online for Dutch imports. Weird that FRS doesn't have it, I remember it on their site for a long time.

Thank you very much! Maybe it's out of print or something, I could have sworn Mediadis had it too at some point.

The Unrated material amounts to nothing more than the insertion of colour post mortem photos of Emily as opposed to the black and white ones seen in the theatrical version, and an extended courtroom exchange between Campbell Scott and Shohreh Aghadashloo.

Also enjoying this thread, thanks for putting it up.

The German import of Resident Evil: Apocalypse on HD DVD got an "extended cut"..

Not that that makes it better, but it's a nice alternative...

Uhh... you guys may want to check out:

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/

They have already done alot of what you are doing. They don't compare HD DVD vs Blu-ray vs DVD, but they do have comparisons against the same format. Look at Casino Royale for example. It is different in almost every release country, and they detail all the differences.

Or look at a film like Silent Hill. Again, they tell the differences (Germany and US both uncut; Germany has slightly better PQ; US has slightly better AQ).

They also allow users to submit, so if you have a comparison they haven't done yet, you can submit your results to be included in their database.

DVD compare is good with DVD's, but there database is lacking on Blu rays.

They have 823 Blu-ray titles in their database, and since it is user driven, can be improved by feedback from BD importers.

Some entries are lacking (only list the US release). However, others are very comprehensive (take Casino Royale, Kung Fu Hustle, or 300 for example).

Again, I think it would be a better place to collect such data than a thread in this forum. Start adding the differences for 823 titles into just a bunch of random posts, and it will become impossible to find anything is the thread or make good comparisons. Their site is made for it.

It's all updated in the first post.

Thanks for that link though, I'll see what I can find. I remember checking that site out before, but as someone else said the HiDef section was lacking. Really only comparing the US BD to multiple SD copies. That and they don't mention PQ or AQ is their comparisons, which is the main reason for this thread.

So here's my first attempt at a comparison between different transfers:

Michael Clayton (M6 - France /VS/ Warner - US)

PQ: The Warner release seems to have slight DNR & EE applied to the transfer, which I have been told is not uncommon. The M6 release has noticeably more natural film grain, is a bit sharper (has more of that high-def "pop"), has slightly deeper black levels, and has a more vivid color palate. Comparing scene to scene the Warner release looks a bit muted. Really they're very similar transfers, maybe 8.5/10 VS 7.5/10. The only negative on the M6 release is when the words "4 days earlier" come up they are in French.

AQ: I have no idea I don't have a surround sound set up but logically DTS-HD Master Audio (M6) > Dolby Digital Plus (Warner).

Extras: They are the same except the M6 release has a Q&A documentary at Cannes. Not too interesting since the questions are in French and the answers are in English.

All in all I'd say the M6 release is better for really anal people but not necessary for most folks.
