Argh, what's the audio issue with the domestic release? I sold my import when Sony announced this and haven't bought it again yet....

also, the French "Gangs of New York" is better also imo.
(yes I had to order one and have the "best" version)
and with all the various Rambo releases you'd think a few would have to be superior, but I don't have any, so not sure on those.

btw: from my understanding the "uncut" "Casino Royale" was never meant for the US or something like that, and that the footage in question lasts all of like 20 seconds.

I'm still waiting to hear about the uk "stargate" and "Total Recall" myself.
Can you elaborate on a couple of those, like what's better and comparing to what other releases. I'm updating my original post.

Thanks.

Yes. It's the same audio & video transfer as the U.K. HD DVD.

Same on the Basic Instinct & Total Recall new U.K. Blu-ray release.

Looks & sounds awesome.

I had it on HD DVD & then bought it on Blu-ray in case my X-A2 ever crapped out.

well not sure how much elaboration I can give.
The "Reservoir Dogs" just has a bit of a cleaner/sharper look imo. I've never heard anyone say it isn't better than the US version which was obviously a very early title. I have the Dutch HD DVD which is the same as the Dutch Blu.
There is a thread regarding "Crank" in the HD DVD import section. Many Blu fans argued that the HD DVD import wasn't better, but I don't think any of them actually bought it. The same encode is available as a Blu in whatever country that was. I cannot even remember anymore. This would need further investigation. Xploited still offers this "Crank" for sale so maybe take one for the team. maybe I'll get it myself.
As far as "Gangs" the terrible dnr of the US version is well documented.
The French version looks a bit better with sharper, more grainy/filmlike look.
"Pan's" is another a dnr issue title. sharper, more natural/grainy look on the UK/French version.

btw: I looked through your list, and have a few questions.

1) what is up with "Planet Earth"?
the BBC version was the initial version released in the US and is 1080p as far as I know.
It would be considered a US version imo. There was a second version released in the US by Discover channel. But both would be considered "US" releases.

2) "Starship Troopers"--I wouldn't say the pq is "better" on the UK version.
The HDD review did not indicate that.
audio sync issue is another matter perhaps.

3) "basic instinct"--are you talking about the "new" UK version?
4) "total recall"--again are you talking about the "new" version that was just released.

you probably should add release dates and company/studio info to these titles to avoid confusion over "later" releases of the same titles

well, I got the Planet Earth info from the reviews on this site. One was listed as 1080i and one 1080p, so...

As far as Total Recall, Basic Instinct and Starship Troopers, all that info I got from others users on AVS. If something is incorrect, I will change it.

That is a good point about companies and possible dates for releases, I'll see what I can do. Are you aware of any of those that I already have listed that already have multiple releases? I'm not aware of multiple Total Recall and Basic Instinct UK releases.

I have the Crank HD DVD, I can get the US Blu from Netflix and do a little comparison. I don't know how accurate it will be, I only have a 50" 768p display, but I will try my best.

I stickied this thread after confirming with Blacklac.

I think it's a very useful one to keep as a sticky here.

Thanks Blacklac for creating and maintaining it!

I have some info for you.

Casino Royale Australian version does indeed have a lossless PCM english track.

Welcome To The Jungle (The Rundown in the US) is out in the UK and Australia. I can't comment on picture quality but the Aussie one is uncut while the UK one is cut.
