Default August 4th Releases (UK Version)

Here's this weeks new releases, quite a few interesting ones this week, i've already had escape from new york turn up on saturday, hopefully get a chance to watch it tonight, i'll prob pick up cliffhanger and dark city at some point.

PS the three original rambo films are released separately tomorrow too but i haven't bothered putting them on the poll as it save me making 2 seperate polls (maximum of 10 choices)

Since the poll won't let me pick three, I picked Cliffhanger. I'm also picking up Escape From New York and Dark City.

I'd appreciate anyone's impressions on Total Recall - I'm hoping it's a big improvement over the U.S. release.

Will let you know once i watched it.

Just watched T2 i really wasn't over impressed with it, especially the sound track its a DTS HD MA 5.1 but it really seems all over the place.
I kept finding myself turning it up to hear voices then turning it down when shit kept blowing up. Half way through i upped my center channel so i didn't have to keep messing about.
Not saying it's bad but if you have the volume at a resonable level voices do fade off. Other than that the sound track does sound awsome.
Picture was ok defiante improvmant over the dvds out there and the extreme edition with the wma version. Quite a few scenes are soft and grainy but overall was still a pleasure to watch.

And not even a subtitle track included on the disc lets hope Total recall is a bit better than this T2 (3rd dip already)

Thanks, and I'll look forward to your impressions on Recall. Interesting your impressions of T2. I have the Studio Canal , and it's my understanding all the T2 releases are based on the SC transfer. I thought the DTS MA audio was pretty good for an older film, and don't recall any issues with the dialog audio.

A little more expensive than the PS3, but I just got the LG BH 200 / combo player just to use as a BD player. You can easily switch it's BD region code through the remote control, so I don't even bother to ask region coding any more for new releases. It can also be made to support PAL and be DVD region free.

Dark City (after checking reviews to see if it's better, worse or the same as the US edition).

If anyone gets stargate, even though its region coded. Could you tell me if the subs are right this time? And how is the transfer.

.
Just finished watching Total recall. I was more impressed with the quality of this than T2. Most the film looked quite sharp clean and crisp. There was quite a bit of the film that did look overlay soft especially face shots. A tad bit of grain here and there but what can you expect this was shot on film. And it's a year older than T2 as well
The backgrounds do show and its very clear to see the overlay on the characters.
Outside daylight shots do look very good.
As for the sound track it's a 5.1 DTS HD MA, it's very front heavy and not much use of the surrounds . Voices are very clear and explosions, gunshots don't overwhelm the track.

There are subtitles included ,quite a bit of what is on the subs does not really match up with what they are saying. Bad phrasing mostly
