Default What's Up With Canada?

Do they have small studios?
or any independent distributors?
Everytime I go on Amazon.ca I only see the main Hollywood studios releases.
the exact same titles we are getting in the US.
What's the deal?
Where are all the Canadian exclusives?

What exactly were you looking for? Only a few popular Canadian directors can actually get dvd releases.
The American studios own the theatres so you don't get to see Canadian films in Canada even except at small independent theatres.
At the alternative video store i go to the Canadian dvd section is smaller than even the Iranian one.

Much of the moviemaking in Canada needs to be financed partially by the Canadian Film Board as grants and a lot is in joint co-operation between France/Canada/Britain etc.
There are DVDs by guys like David Cronenberg,Atom Ogoyan and Guy Madden. All well worth looking into.

Much of Canada's moviemaking rests on the shoulders of Sarah Polley these days. She's definitely been one our most prominent voices in the film industry.
