Default I'm Not There (Scanbox, Nordic) pics & impressions

I just received I'm Not There from Denmark (www.axelmusic.dk). Pretty fast delivery as they shipped it from there to Finland yesterday and it arrived this morning already It was my first order from axelmusic, but I'll probably order a lot more from there in the future as well as I was really happy with their service.

Some case pics (the inside pic was a bit out-of-focus, sorry):

Case marked as Region B, needs to be confirmed. Original DTS-HD audio (seems to be the standard for Scanbox). It looks like it's a BD-25 based on the single barcode at the data side of the disc. Danish, Swedish, Icelandic, Norwegian and Finnish subs. This is the Danish edition, the other Nordic editions are coming out soon as well.

As I'm still on summer holiday I can't check it out very quickly but I'll post actual impressions when I'm back in Tokyo.

Look forward to hearing your impressions as I plan on buying this early August (bought a few too many imports already this month ).

Can't wait to check this out.
I refused to buy the crappy sd version.
If the upcoming Studio Canal catalog releases are indeed locked then it's time to get a region B player.
really tired of this bs.
why the fuck are they locking catalogs?

although I realize that this movie is fairly new.

Ya I was in the same boat with the SD Verison.... I had to wait for the Blu-ray. I really hope thats misprinted and its Region Free. If Studio canal starts region coding, then I can't look forward to Brotherhood of the Wolf with a hopeful dubb or StarGate with better subs and transfer.

Scanbox seems to mark all their releases as Region B, though since I couldn't find any of their releases in the most common / biggest BD region coding list, I'm still hopeful their releases might be region free in reality. Anyhow it sure looks like anybody who wants to import actively from Europe to region A areas will need some kind of a region bypass solution.

kannisto,
Completely off topic, but where did you order the following from - was it online?

Cassandra's Dream
Cleaner
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Have you had a chance to check out the audio and visual quality?

I find that its practically impossible to pick up the Danish/Swedish/Finnish releases at decent prices, so thought I would check before ordering them.

Thanks

I picked them up in Anttila department store in Tampere, Finland. Not online. They were priced 26.95 (Cleaner) and 28.95 EUR (the others) each, and I bought them Tax Free so I'll get a bit of money back when I leave Finland (only about 10-15%). So they weren't that cheap. I won't be able to check the PQ/AQ before I'm back in Tokyo and that'll be in the beginning of August. The normal Blu-ray disc prices in stores here are close to 30 EUR each. Some cost up to 33 EUR.

I guess I put most of my disposable income on HD films (used to be DVDs). I tend to go back to Finland once a year for holiday to meet family & some friends as I'm originally from there. It's a good opportunity to shop as well.

The original audio track is supposed to be in French though and there are no English subs.

I'm not sure discshop.fi ships internationally. Their web page only talks about deliveries to Finland but I couldn't find a note that would have clearly said that they don't ship internationally. Maybe would be best to contact them first to find out.

Filmifriikki at least is supposed to ship internationally. I didn't get answers when I e-mailed them once before so I didn't ever shop there so far.

well how the hell are we supposed to get these great bds if they happen to be region free if that site doesn't ship to the US?
If you find out any more info regarding a place that DOES ship to the US please post that info.
or if you manage to make contact with the "other" site.

www.filmifriikki.fi does ship internationally according to their page but I've no personal experience of ordering from them. Finland doesn't have much in the way of international online stores... Most Scandinavian titles can also be ordered from www.axelmusic.dk and www.megastore.se, but neither one of those seem to have The Diving Bell and the Butterfly BD listed. It may have only been released on BD in Finland and Norway so far. The Norwegian title is "Dykkerklokken Og Sommerfuglen". I don't know any Norwegian online stores personally, but it might be possible to find one that ships internationally.

I'll contact discshop.fi to ask if they can ship internationally

OK, discshop.fi doesn't ship outside of Finland, it was actually written on their page. Somehow I missed that earlier.

So for Scandinavian imports, at least the following are available:

http://www.axelmusic.dk (Denmark)
http://www.megastore.se (Sweden)
http://www.filmifriikki.fi (Finland)

I have personal experience with axelmusic and megastore and I'd happily order from those again, I'm not sure how good filmifriikki is with international orders. I've actually never ordered anything online from filmifriikki or any Finnish store so far.

Another Finnish online store "www.bootstep.fi" says in their "delivery conditions" page that deliveries outside of Finland are possible but delivery cost has to be agreed separately.

Quote:
Mikäli asiakas haluaa tilauksen toimitettavan ulkomaille, sovitaan toimituskulut erikseen ennen kaupan vahvistamista.
Translation: If the customer wants the order to be delivered abroad, shipping costs are agreed separately before confirming the order.

They seem to have pretty competitive prices on discs in general compared to other Finnish stores.

Here's The Diving Bell and the Butterfly link:
