As one of the 12 people in the world who actually liked all three movies, I'm pretty stoked to get this, especially for the first one, because I still only own the original DVD from the late 90's. This should be quite a quantam leap in pq.

Yeah, I own the Ultimate box set and the first one looks absolutely stunning. They fixed the colour tone of it to match the last two which is awesome since that had always bothered me whenever I watched them on DVD. I'm sure the will look identical so I'm not buying them again. It definitely should be a must buy for whoever doesn't already own it in HD though.

I didn't hate the 2nd and 3rd movies but I was disappointed. I thought I was going to see some cool Matrix stuff now that Neo realizes who he is and what he can do in the Matrix (there is no spoon). Instead we get someone who can stop bullets but can't avoid a fist fight? Why doesn't he make them all just lay down like he does with the bullets they fired?

Unlike other movies that I have no problem trashing, for these two I think most of my gripes have more to do with my expectations rather than their delivery.

That said I don't have any desire to own part 2 or 3 or the Animatrix but I will rent. I do want The Matrix though. That I will own if it's eventually sold separately. I never saw it in the theatre, only on first gen dvd (the first I ever bought) so the will rock (it'll rock me anyway).

Yeah I bet a lot of people just couldn't see the messages because they were too disoriented from being beaten over the head with said messages.

IMO the series was a victim of its own success. The first movie was so fresh and amazing and set the bar so high that audiences expected the sequels to meet the same standard. While I enjoyed them, I can also truthfully say they were not in the same league as the original overall. I will be buying the trilogy upon release, whenever that ends up being.

Moved this thread to the Imports forum as this for the UK release. I also edited the title to reflect the release area.

What an exciting action film that would make!

"On noes, a room full of baddies, what can I do?"

*Waves hand and they all lie down*

"Yeah alright! I beat them!"

Do you have a link to the BD page at Sendit? When I do a search, onlythe HD DVD version shows up.

I agree, although the 3rd film has the most annoying parts in it. 1 & 2 are fantastic. The 3rd one had the following issues:

- What happened to the Merovingian? That whole scene where Trinity kicks the gun out of the guys hand was kind of lame. As always, the other bad guys just sit there and do nothing. I thought the M'gian was a cool character. They needed to build on him more.

- Morpheus seems to be just there for the ride and he was a central character in the first and second movies. I dunno, he felt wasted in #3.

- Too long of a battle with the humans & sentinels. It became tiresome.... zillions of bullets, doom and gloom, zillions more shots fired, doom and gloom, etc, etc.... I get the point. And, the whole military feel to it was contrived with quotes like: "I dont want no kids(or whatever he said)in my corps!" Stop with the marines-bad ass routine... obnoxious and uneccessary.

- Not enough time spent in the Matrix. This is where I agree with dissenters about the 3rd film. Too much Zion nonsense with too little Matrix and being plugged in. It became a cliched action film instead of a break-through Sci-Fi film like the first two were, even though #2 had lots of action!

There are other issues with #3, but that highlights some of them.
