Btw how is PQ ? Can it be used as demo material ?
I watched Night Watch yesterday and I thought PQ was very good though there is some variation from scene to scene but that seems to be directly related to how the movie has been shot originally. I didn't notice any artifacts such as DNR or EE and some scenes had very excellent level of sharpness and detail, but some others were a little bit less detailed and level of grain was a bit variable as well depending on scene. Overall impression was very good in any case, it looked like a fine presentation of what I imagine the original elements would probably look like

As PQ demo material I guess there are a bit more consistently super-detailed BD movies out there but the combination of the very original and impressive visuals on this one with the PQ of the release was quite impressive for me.

I watched it with DTS audio and the audio didn't completely impress me though it was adequate, I guess TrueHD track could still be much better. I have no lossless audio setup.

I'm trying to watch Day Watch tonight.

Thanks again buddy. I guess you would be happy with the availability of Finnish & Swedish subs.

Yeah, Finnish subs are nice for me but English subs work just about as fine. If original audio is in English I actually prefer English subs as otherwise I start to think about how they've done the translations.

Swedish subs are not as useful for me

Kannisto,

Could you please re-confirm if the discs aren't REGION LOCKED ? I am getting request from E.U based members who want to import the boxset from Japan. Please advice.

I already confirmed as much as possible on my PC:
- AnyDVD HD says they are region free
- They work on my PC with my LG drive and WinDVD9 though the region code for Blu-ray is not set on the playback hw/sw side and region A titles don't work in the same situation

I have no other way to check as I don't have any region B hw.

Do you have some region B or C hardware to test it on as all Japanese releases should work in U.S. players even if they were region A locked?

Disappointing about the lack of animated subs, maybe the US release.

But the U.S release may not feature the longer versions and could be Region Locked. So pick your poison.

Region Locking isn't an issue for me since I'm in the US, and I actually prefer the US cut of Night Watch over the original (it flows much, much better), I just wish the subs were more accurate.

thanks for the info Kannisto!
I have never seen these titles strangely enough, but have seen the sd versions in stores.
Looking very much forward to checking them out and am very tempted regarding these versions.
