Default Gangs of New York - 9/30 -UK

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gangs-York-B...1001519&sr=1-2

Does anyone know if this will be region locked? (region locking is probably the only thing postponing my leap to becoming format neutral).

It has a US release of 10/23 if you want to wait a month?

^ Really? There is no info on either this site or Amazon of such a release. Did you confuse it with King of New York(releases 10/23 also)?

probably confused it, but no this isn't region locked thats what it says on amazon but importing is really expensive, which is probably the only thing keeping me from getting this, and i really really want it

^ I read that it says that also, but I will be waiting until I get a confirmation before I make any purchases since there is such mass confussion about high def in general with retailers that it would not surprise me in the least to find out that Amazon's listing is incorrect.

UPDATE: Looks like I was correct in doubting Amazon's listing. According to the DVD Times article linked below, this is a Region B coded release. This has to be the most glaring drawback for serious film fans about Blu-ray. Oh, well, hopefully it is released in the US sooner rather than later.

Amazon is not very reliable for region coding information.

I would suspect that this title will be Region B as most EIV titles have employed region locking.

Contrary to previous posts, importing is not "really expensive." Really expensive is dropping $60 on a mint copy of Big Trouble in Little China DVD on Ebay. Yes importing does cost more than domestic, thats it. For my import news, I go to Merlins

The only source that all EiV:s titles except The Crow are region coded is this:
http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=65347

And then I tried the disc for Lucky Number Slevin it was region free. I have ordered Brookback Mountain and The Crow and will test the region coding on these discs also.

DVD Times seams to do the same thing that many other do, call Blu-ray titles released in countries that belong to region B (UK for example) Region B-titles. They should instead call them UK-titles coded in Region B or coded A, B and C.

I'll keep you updated about the region coding on the discs.
