Bond 50 (Complete) UK Boxset - Question/Opinion Wanted
While I hate that MGM is literally forcing me to re buy 11 films if I want the full set (yeah, I know I could wait ... but hard to do with Bond), I know I will be buying the set. I am very tempted to pre-purchase from the UK since it would cost me around 123 shipped as opposed to 199.99 from US Amazon. However, are the disc going to be region blocked? I know that the previous Bond discs from MGM were region free ... in fact, I think only the Sony version of QoS was region locked. But, will MGM continue this? I realize that any discussion is complete conjecture at this point, but I really wanted everyone's opinion: will Bond 50 be Region Free?

It's hard to say with Fox. Sometimes they region block and sometimes they don't, and there's little way to predict which way they'll go on any title.
One thing to keep in mind is that, on the older films, the American Blu-rays included the original mono or stereo sound mixes (albeit in lossy Dolby Digital), but the British Blu-rays only had the 5.1 remixes.Josh Z

My guess would be they will be identical to the current region free discs, although with different cover art (maybe?). No one will be able to confirm it until September when maybe some review discs are sent out. You might just wait until it is confirmed unless are are worried the price will go up in the meantime. Or buy a region hackable player.
The distributor for the US disc is Fox, for MGM, so it'll have fun stuff like BD+. I don't know if they or Sony are the distributor for the UK, although the Casino Royale will likely be a Sony disc, and Quantum will be Fox(?), Sony has some kind of deal on those and for the next two (Skyfall and Bond 24). (producing and other rights, not necessarily disc distribution)
The only question I have is if the UK set will get the Hardcover book the US set is getting.
Edit: Damn Josh beat me to it again! -

FYI The Amazon pre-order has dropped to $186.28
If someone is that concerned bout region compatibility the US is getting to be a better way to go. -

Update Amazon.co.uk added some extras descriptions for all the movies. It looks like all but QOS (& bonus disc) are region free

Also, it doesn't look as though the original mono and stereo tracks will be included on the UK set - but will be on the US one.

That is huge if true. That possibility, along with the likelihood of QOS + Bonus disc being region B and the Amazon.com set having an exclusive book, compelled me to cancel my UK preorder in favor of the US set. It's an extra $55, but at least everything will be right and I'll get the book.

Just learned that Amazon is charging sales tax to California residents starting tomorrow, so that makes the U.S. Bond set $70 more expensive now. I'm going to have to revisit my decision here...

According to a poster over on another site, the Bond 50 set will be $149.99 at Best Buy next week.
If true, I hope Amazon price matches pretty quickly as I have it pre-ordered there with the bonus book. I also put in a pre-order with Columbia House for $142.50. I would be willing to pay the extra $7.50 for the book, but not willing to take a chance on having two sets shipped to me next week. -

Thanks for the heads up. I had switched back to the UK set, and it was preparing to dispatch, but was able to cancel in time. $150 + tax for the US set with region A QOS and bonus disc, original audio and book is good enough for me.
