    And the films are:

Nosferatu - Phantom of the Night

    Woyzeck

    Fitzcarraldo

Aguirre - The Wrath of God

    Cobra Verde

If these are English friendly then this is a Day One buy for me...

Definitely! I love 'Nosferatu' but will gladly pick them all up -- and would really love English subtitles, at least.

Fitzcarraldo should look amazing in Hi def, I already have the Gaumont of Nosferatu though - be interesting to see how this version compares...
I am going to ask SC what the score is with English subs though.

It's been years since the last I've seen 'Cobra Verde' but I recall it having some gorgeous cinematography, so I hope the quality of the transfer is up to par.

Are these Arthouse titles just a port from their old DVD ser http://www.arthaus.de/klaus_kinski-w...ion_neuauflage , or if this new set is done with the help of studio canal? I guess only the latter would eventually include English for a later international release(s).

Does this not include My Best Fiend like the DVD set? Also, are we getting both version of Nosferatu?

That remains unknown at this stage. The DVD set from Kinowelt/arthaus was the German version only but the individual release of Nosferatu from the same company apparently did have both versions...

This is a Studio Canal release but may well be under the Arthaus banner though. Doubtless all will be revealed...

I saw Fitzcarraldo a few months ago at The Film House in Edinburgh when they had a Herzog/Kinski season. It was billed as a new "digital print" - but was just a scan of a print. Had the black dots for when the reels needed to be changed. If it's the one they are using it would need a massive clean up, during some scenes (especially dark ones) is very grainy to the point of looking noisy and was rough, however many of the day scenes looked stunning.

Hopefully Anchor Bay or whoever has the rights now in the UK release the set here.

I would have seen Aguirre but the brochure claimed it was the god awful English dub, although apparently it was actually the German one. Annoyed I missed out on that.

The English dub of Aguirre is horrendous, the German dub is the way to go with this one. It's good they are putting it on there uncompressed though.

Note, although the film actors spoke in English the on set recording was unusable so 2 new dubs were done. Kinski features on neither as he demanded $1mill to do it (a ludicrous amount). The German works, the English does not.

Had a gander over at Herzog's site and looks to be a lot of nice features in this set. I really hope this is English friendly or gets a port to the UK!

Google translate (I know some of the film names are wrong but I'm too lazy to fix this text):
On the 70th Birthday of Werner Herzog on 5 September 2012 shows all five films of the duo infernal re-sampled from the original negative in stunning HD quality for the first time on Blu-ray! The unique edition is packed with over 8 hours of bonus material, including the documentaries "My Best Fiend" and "What am I, my films," several shorts, audio commentaries and exclusive pictures!

Klaus Kinski was already seen in more than 100 German and international productions on the canvas before he met the director Werner Herzog. The gifted enfant terrible and the auteur formed for five feature films a congenial duo, because both were ready for their movies to go to their limits and beyond. The shoot was influenced by their love-hate relationship with each other and the legendary outbursts by the actor. But together they created works that gained world fame and is still among the best of the German film ever belong.

Aguirre, the Wrath of God / Blu-ray
    Cobra Verde / Blu-ray
    Fitzcarraldo / Blu-ray
    Nosferatu - Phantom der Nacht / Blu-ray

This from the guy who did the restoration which he posted on another forum:
AGUIRRE, FITZCARRALDO, WOYZECK, COBRA VERDE and NOSFERATU both versions German and English have been transfered between May and July in Munich. The source materials were without exception the original edited camera negatives ! Everybody who likes Mr. Herzog's films will get the best possible image quality there is, with these BluRays. This is not a commercial ad, just a technical truth.
How do I know ? ... I did the transfer and color correction :-)
