This release of Casshern might be nice improvement over the Italian HD DVD that I have (only 448 kbps DD Japanese audio and 1080i60 and Italian version title texts). I might get it when there's something else to order from Amazon Germany also (after it's been released).

I thought the Italian HD DVD and BD was exactly the same but the BD is actually 1080p. The German release will hopefully have lossless original audio and non-forced subs. Anyway, it seems Casshern and Goemon will be out in the UK as well. Only Goemon have a release date yet though (July 26th).

The german release of Casshern could be "cut".
Due to an error at I-On Media a single scene is put a bit (2 Minutes) later beyond normaly following scenes, and due to this error some small scenes are lost.

This Error occured on all DVD and TV releases, yet. And its uncertain if its fixed for BD.

The CASSHERN blu is stated to be just 1080i with italian credits, aout medium PQ, windowboxed... (black bars at right and left sides...)

The Italian Casshern BD also has black bars on the sides when watching it using my PC. These bars are not visible when I watch it on the TV though.

^ I merged the new thread on German Goemon to the earlier one.

I'm not getting the German release myself since I have the Japanese release already and I'm not especially collecting steelbooks. Neither of the releases have English subs though, but a UK release is coming also. I really liked the movie though.

I'm getting Casshern from Germany soon, too bad it is a 1080i50 release though. I'm also recording it from WOWOW this month, will be interesting to check which version of Casshern has the best PQ so far.

The movie (Casshern German release) is in 1080i50, and there are some copyright warning texts and the main menu in 1080i50 as well. The disc is region free though there's a B mark at the back of the case and on the disc art. Extras are in 576i (SD PAL). There are some SD PAL trailers before the movie starts too. The main feature is somewhat windowboxed (black bars on all 4 sides) and the title credit texts are in Italian. I was happy to notice that the Japanese audio track is a DTS-HD MA 5.1 track, though listed as DTS-HD on the case.

There's a reversible cover so one can hide the classification label.
