Default Momitsu BDP-899 vs PIONEER BDP-320

Hello fellas. I am going to buy my first Blu-ray player and have some questions. I'd appreciate a lot any hints and advices.

I checked for region free players on the Internet and found "Momitsu BDP-899" BD-player. It's relatively cheap. My question is: what is the differerence of "Momitsu BDP-899" and "PIONEER BDP-320"? Will BDP-899 produce image/audio of lesser quality or it's cheaper just because of less popular brand? Will there be a considerable difference on 42'' plasma?

The Momitsu is very nice.

I have a Sherwood, which is a cheaper clone of the Momitsu 899. Less finished and missing some features like usb and a internet connection.
While I thought the Sherwood's finish was a bit cheap, probably because it is a cheap build, but i installed the Momtisu firmware on it and it had a noticeable improvement in the DVD up converting and the HD sound was very good I'd say second to none(based on the limited tests I've done), best of all it still switched regions like the Momitsu.
I don't think you'll lose out on AQ or PQ with the momitsu (again based on my limited experience with the clone brand), but I'll let the Momitsu owners here speak to the comparisons to the pioneer.

BTW There is new cheaper momitsu as well BDP-799(?)

I have owned the BDP-899 since April and I can recommend it to any would be purchasers. PQ and AQ are both superb and it has a better upconversion than my previous player - a Panasonic DMP-BD35.
The Region Free ability is out of the box and the DVD multi region ability stays permanently on the machine if you use the codes with a 0.

Great though the PQ on the Momitsu is, it does not have picture adjust which the Pioneer would though. I recently bought a new Sony BDP-S760 which has the best PQ that I have enjoyed on any player, plus it brings the picture adjustment abilities of its bigger sibling - the ES5000 to the party too.
Nonetheless, if you can get hold of an 899 then go for it, especially as they are not currently being manufactured. I certainly intend on keeping mine for multi region playback...

Thanks for detailed explanation. As for 899/799, I don't see much difference and propably choose the cheapest / in stock to the moment of sale.

yikes, is that's expensive, any hope of finding a BDP for much much less? What kind of important functions or quality do you lose with a drop in price?

The clone (sherwood) I got was $50, but that was a one time deal. And the quality was a bit spartan because it is a cheap off brand.
The new 799 is $299 at www.hkflix.com, this ebay seller has it for $250 + $25 shipping (USPS)

The 899 is hard to find from what I understand
