Default Toshiba’s BDX2000 Blu-ray Player Hits Best Buy

Toshiba’s official website states a November release date, but user submitted photos indicate that at least a few Best Buy stores have this on the shelves now.

For half the price you get a fully loaded Insignia. Awful starting point for Toshiba.

I saw this a couple of days ago in Best Buy for $199. It does do 1080p/24 output for DVD upconversion, which is nice... (I've not seen this feature appear on every player yet). It is overpriced. Sony and Panasonic base players are $199 list price at this point.

Hey, the XDE600 is listed on the Toshiba site now. How about that... who would have thought they'd actually release another model? It's available from vendors online for ~$70.

No. from what I've read it is just a player rebadged for Toshiba. Someone said who made it when it was first announced. Orion? or maybe funai? The remote looks like the Magnavox/Insignia

No XDE and no cell processor for upconversion. Maybe when Toshiba actually designs and builds their own player.

Well it does beat having a slow clunky $400 Profile 1.0s...

A year or so ago, I would have paid decent money for a Toshiba BD player with processing like the XA2. Now, I realize that I haven't played an SD DVD since then and have seen plenty of BD performance out of $199 players that have more features. Good luck with that.

Already knew it wouldn't play HD DVDs.

I'm happy with my XA2 or am I? Havn't turned the thing on in 5 months.

I've lost almost all respect for that company. I think Toshiba, I think firmware updates PER disc.

^ ^ I haven't used my XA2 in 3 months! The XA2 was my main player for SD DVD (and I guess HD DVD) but ever since i got the OPPO I never went back to using it...

My Toshiba HD-DVD players have been superb performers & get plenty of use. My current primary home theater player lives quite happily in the equipment rack with my Sony blu-ray player, and I give Toshiba tons of kudos for the excellent support they provided their customers especially regarding continued firmware development even after they were forced to pull the plug on the HD-DVD format.
I have no need for another blu-ray player at the moment, but I would look at the Toshiba offerings if a need were to come up based upon past performance of Toshiba products overall.
