It will. Better players with more features can be had for 2/3rds the price.

Nope - what would be the point since it is not capable of playing my HD-DVD titles?

There are still over 100 exclusives...and some folks are content on using their HD DVD hardware until it dies, whenever that may be, so no, they haven't paid the cost for the same movie again. I'm not one of those people but at the same time, I am considering not bothering replacing my HDs with their Blu counterparts, as it is pretty much money down the drain and there won't be much loss if I am unable to see some of the films again.

If it was actually an upgrade, I might consider it - but since 99% of them are pretty much identical from a pq/aq perspective - why throw away the money to no purpose? Better to spend the funds on a blu-ray title offering I do not already have in HD. And, as Vinny mentioned, there are still all those HD titles only available on HD-DVD.
My HD-DVD players and titles are perfectly happy co-existing with my blu-ray players and titles.

Fully understood, but... Ya'll don't care for the audio upgrade to DTS-HD MA? Or certain new transfers being used, new art/cover work, EXTRAS etc? One example: I can think of is: An American werewolf in london is better overall.

also, the prices aren't too bad. and if you wait a lil bit, you can get some newly released Univsersal titles at $12/13

Nope...the differences are minutiae to me. I still haven't found any objective proof that DD+ is sonically inferior to lossless audio (A-B switching doesn't count...only volume-matched double blind testing is permissible).

Don't some BD movies with dobly true hd tracks have a bitrate around 1.5 mbps which is the same as DD+?

The differences when they exist at all (which is pretty rare) are very minor at best and not worth the money. I have no intentions of ever replacing my HD-DVDs with Blu-rays of the same title unless there is something very special about the Blu-ray being considered which makes it a highly desirable replacement (a lossless codec audio track isn't enough to warrant consideration). My HD-DVDs are terrific and will serve for a very long time. Like I said before, better to spend the money on titles I do not already have in HD (which I do far too frequently . . .).

Dolby TrueHD is lossless and thus tends to be at a much higher bitrate than 1.5 Mbps. Was there one in particular you were thinking of?
