Since we have already seen a couple of $89 and $99 dollar deals this year (on 1.1 models), I think it should be common to find BF deals with this pricing. There are several major brand candidates for $99 pricing and BD 2.0. There could be some $49 deals on older 1.0 or 1.1 off-brand models.

I finally went purple with the purchase of a $99 Profile 2.0 player the other day.

$49 would be amazing. Would love to see name brand players for $79-89, too. Maybe a movie or two as well. Wishful thinking, perhaps.

It's not about the price of the player at this point. Who cares if a player costs $50 or $200 if the discs are still listed at $40 RRP?

Not impossible at all-the disc prices have fallen fast (though in some places in the world, sadly, still high), and with all of the coupons and promos in every conceivable forum + rentals, and most discs unlocked, there's no reason adoption shouldn't continue to rise. Here's to checking out more media deals for BF (I have players). Hopefully it will be better than last year (on and offline). Follow personal movie deal tweets at http://www.twitter.com/digitalbabedeal.

If only the Oppo player would fall to $100. I can dream, can't I ?? But $49 or so for a Blu player will deffinitly get alot more people on the fence( guys who's wives/gf's just "can't see the difference" in PQ) to join the hidef gang ( talk said wife/gf into letting him buy one).

I used to think Blu-ray was about high quality, but now it's about cheap stuff. Eventually it'll look as bad as DVD if you get a cheap enough player.

Excuse me? DVD looks bad?

$49 will not happen this or next year on any player worth having in a system that can take advantage of the high resolution picture/audio.
