I have a kuro plasma as well, the kuro link mode was also another factor that helped me decide on the 320.

I remember as far back to when I was selling their VCR's and DVD players that Panasonic stuff simply never broke in large quantities, I've owned several Panasonic vcr's and DVD's an never had problems with them. SO I'm hoping this track record continues as I've ordered a 60 this morning. The only thing that miffed me was on the website that I bought the 60 from they advertised Divx playback and I find out that it's only the 80 that has that, I have a WDTV so no big shakes there, just hat that they advertised it.

I've had the Pioneer 320 hooked up for 2 days now to a Pioneer KRP500 50" Plasma.

The machine checks out beautifully, in all respects. Boot up time has been hugely improved, SD upconversion is well above the norm for this price point, and the audio quality over the analog outputs is solid.

Build quality is 5 by 5.

It's a little weak next to my BDP09, but a solid player and certainly better than the panny.

It just makes me cringe that people with 37"-42" televisions are debating upscaling. There's no way you can convince me that you would see any real differences. I want to hear from people who have large screens and some nice equipment. Until that point I won't believe that the Pioneer can beat a Reon or ABT 2010. Just saying that Pioneer is a great brand with great support and top of the line audio/video quality doesn't make it a fact for every product. If they stand behind their products, why are people waiting 6 months for firmware updates???? Enough said...

i have a 60 inch pioneer elite pro 150FD plasma to look at upscaling on, plus one player with a reon in it, and I will have the 320 friday to compare the upscaling on it with.

ive got the 51 and a toshi XA2 with REON, and as far as i can tell on my 50 in kuro 5020, theres a slight edge i think to the 51, didnt even plan on buying the pio for dvd playback...though the xa2 can do 24hz with dvd's so its a trade off...

Beautiful, please let me know what your findings are. I am trying to decide between the Pioneer and OPPO but am leaning towards the OPPO.

As much of a hard-on as I've had for Pioneer recently (Kuro Elite AVR and Plasma), I'm also looking towards the Oppo. The build quality of Pioneer can't be denied...but firmware upgrades are indeed another story (their Elite line of receivers can't process Dolby Digital Plus bitstreams without dropouts).

I will bro, I will. I had my eye on the oppo as well, things were not looking very good for a release on it ANYTIME soon until like the day AFTER i ordered my 320. I bet it's going to be a real solid player though.

"ok dude, we get ur point. YOU are happy with the upconversion on ur panny player. "

Sorry bb but you do NOT get my point. My point is folks saying the sd-dvd upconversion of the bd35/55/60/80 is somehow impaired are wrong. They are. In being wrong, that indicates a bias/agenda that at least causes a reasonable pause in the rest of their opinion. If the best a person can do to make "their" choice look good is to falsely degrade another product, well that is kinda insecure isn't it?

So no, you do NOT get my point.

In test after test the results of sd-dvd upscaling/upconversion of the BD30/50/35/55/60/80 is as I stated.

Mediocre/average for the 30/50.
Improved to pretty good on the 35/55.
Improved to even a bit better on the 60/80.

If you have to falsely bash the sd-dvd upconversion of the 35/55/60/80 to somehow make the Pioneer a "better" product then just how much better is the Pioneer really?

Folks that have to bash one product to make "their" product look better are insecure little twits. That is my point.

So are you an insecure little twit or can you let products stand on their own merit without having to falsely diminish the competition?
