Default HD content burned to DVD

Sorry guys if this isn't in the right section. I have a blu ray movie on my computer that I downloaded. Now I can watch it on my laptop but I want to watch it on my tv. Is there any way where I can burn this movie to a dvd and watch it in 720p on my tv. I have a hd-dvd player but not blu ray so that could by a problem. Sorry guys I'm a total newb and this stuff

Theres only two ways to do what you want.

    1. You would have to get an HD DVD burner and burn it to HD DVD.

    2. Connect your computer to your TV via DVI to HDMI or VGA and watch it that way.

You can't burn any HD content to DVD because a DVD and DVD player are not capable of displaying that high of a resolution.

Wait, can't his HD DVD player display AVC-HD from a DVD disc? Mine does. Maybe there is some way he could burn the video in that format to a DVD and play it in his HD DVD player...?

You will need to convert to bluray structure and possibly reencode the file to fit on a DVD-9 and you will have no issues.

Since you picked this up off the web, I'm not saying anymore but will tell you tools exist.
