Question My PS3 Blu Ray has " Trails"

I seem to be getting a strange "artifacting" on my Blu Ray Discs played through my 60 gig PS3. There are odd, unnatural 'breaks' in fleshtones, especially in semi shadow areas, as well as.... best way to describe them are " Trails"...lingering stepped images left behind moving objects ( again mostly in semi shadow" Not unlike the trails I used to see in my younger days under a specific psychedelics influence, but I'm totally sober now! Has anyone else ever experienced this kind of nastiness on a PS3?, and suggestions, advice?I've checked all the "settings" they seem to be 'normal'... Whatsay all?
Thanks
Marty

Try swapping out your HDMI cable. Do you have the same problems with DVD's as well?

I've heard people have had this problem when they have noise reduction on. Not sure if that's an option for PS3, I haven't had to set my PS3's parameters in a few months. Also, check your monitor and refresh rates, I assume you have 24 fps going on frm the PS3, or 60 fps? Depends on what your watching. if it's 60 fps you're going to have problems if your tv/monitor has g-g times of 15 ms or more

Question

Thanks for the replys.....
I've used two different and fairly high end HDMI cables with no change in the 'Trails'...
I've also plugged in two different PS3's and see the same issue with both...so...
Your 'refresh rate' comment may be the answer, some misalligning of the rates between the PS3 and monitor that is causing the 'lines'... I've made a service call on the T.V. ( a Mitsubishi 63", 1080p... unknown refresh rate at this time.... ), and after 'witnessing my problem, the service guy said mitsubishi will probably have him replace the main board in the T.V., but before he does that, I'll have the 'refresh rate' discussion with him.... thanks for your help!
Marty
( still watching Magnificent pictures from my BluRay, even while putting up with this 'artifacting' problem. I highly recommend everyone look at " THE FALL" you may or may bot enjoy the story ( I did... ) but it is the MOST VISUALLY ARESTING bluray currently on the market... a TRUE REFERENCE disc..... )

Change the "24P" option to off and try that. I don't believe that Mitsu is 24Hz compatible.

Yeah, this may solve the problem. Your tv may be having 2:3 pulldown issues taking the video the PS3 is outputting to the 60fps your tv can display.

I also see this same thing on my Samsung DLP 720p. It does it with my Elite BDP-95HD and my PS3 so i think its the set. Its not to annoying but if anyone has a fix it would be appreciated.
