Default Doomsday isn't playing on my BD-UP5000

It just came from netflix today. There's scratch protection, so I don't think there's any damage, but it isn't playing. I tried changing the settings, but it still isn't working. When I press stop, I briefly see an image, but it doesn't work while it's playing. I need an answer immediately...

I also tried cleaning it very gently, but it still doesn't work. Do I need to do a firmware update or something(which I don't know how to do)?

I just tried hot water with liquid soap and it still isn't working. The sound(no image) works until 1 minute and 6 seconds in, and then it just freezes permanently after that. Do you guys think I'll have to send it back? I hope not all Blu's are like this.

Send it back, get a replacement.

Make sure your player has the latest firmware updates, etc....

I had no problems playing my copy of Doomsday in both my 5Ks. Have you tried to power cycle your player? And the usual questions... do you have updated firmware and tried to clear the persistent storage just in case?

I don't know how to update the firmware. I turned the player on and off several times, and the only persistent memory is my Face/Off HD-DVD which I watched some of a couple days ago.

I assume you are unable to connect the player using the ethernet port so try burning the ISO onto a CD. Download the latest firmware from here
Samsung BD-UP5000 1.3 Frmware released!

Then you'll need an appropriate ISO burning software as I've had no success using Nero. Google "Active@ ISO Burner v1.1" and you should have no issues in getting the player to read the disc. Vinnie97 also posted this thread and says it works as well.

Can I suggest buying the proper DVD version (and a proper upconverter to go with it). Or alternativly wait until a HD version is released on a slightly more stable format...

If you've never updated the firmware, then yes, that is most likely ... no, I'd say it's definitely the problem. You can use the method mentioned above, or if you have a Mac, use Disk Utility to burn the image.

I suspect you got a scratched disc. I've already had 3 BDs happened before from Net-flix.

It works! The firmware update took like 5 minutes and after that, it's working perfect.

Thanks for posting my meager guide, HD.
