Default has there been enough blu improvements to warrant an upgrade for me already?

title pretty much says it all. i have a sammy 5000 dual format player right now. has there been enough improvements, with bd live and pq with either the new elite line or sonys new 350 that i would see a difference if i upgraded?

I would wait.
bd-live is barely up.
In fact I don't even know if it is.
There may be like 1 title so far that you can use it with.
I'd wait till all the new players are out.
There are still a number to come.
like until October maybe.
Then you'll have a better picture of which player you might want to get.

There are actually a good handful of BD-Live Titles already, whether or not you can access that content yet is another story. But, that is not a big deal to me. I will be upgrading to a profile 1.1 player (at least, possibly a 2.0 player depending on price) for the PiP and a few other 1.1 features that I can not use right now.

Save your money - wait for the end of the year - I cannot imagine why you would switch out that Sammy for anything but a Sony S550 or Sammy 2500 - and it's too early to even think about that.
To keep my comments in perspective - I do not own a blu-ray player yet - but the 350 and 2500 are the players I am waiting on . . .

In all honesty I would wait. I have an older Panny model, and a PS3 and I have tried some of the BD Live stuff and it's stuff that I wasn't interested in quite frankly. I know it's new and give them 6 months to a year and lets see what they put out.

Like other members have suggested the Samsung 2500 is shaping up to be quite the player. I'm awaiting reviews but I may upgrade my BD-30 to one when they come out.

Wait. We should see a lot of action along about Christmas from lots of different companies. All of which will drive prices down and options up for us.

The 5000 is Profile 1.1 if you download the latest firmware update, which is good enough for me until BD Live's features become more extensive in variety.

I was going to get the Sony S350 but I am starting to rethink this. I, may, wait til the tail end of next year in hopes the players will be better/more finalized, prices will be considerably cheaper, and more feature players will be out. I have the PS3 and, as much as I want to not use it as much as my movie player, it has been rock solid. I have been debating this for awhile. I bought my sammy on a whim and I burned myself because I was unaware of 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0. The sammy perfoms well...but it is not perfect. Game Plan and some other titles still dont run well even with my updated firmware. This is getting a bit old for me lately. DVD upconversion is AWESOME on the sammy and that is the reason why I would still like to hold on to this player. Still debating this one. I just want a more reliable player so I can focus my on playing games.

I'd sit tight with the 5000.

It has all the hardware necessary for Profile 2.0/BD-Live, along with LG's BH200.

LG is working on a firmware update for the 200 that will make it 2.0. Hopefully Samsung is doing the same.
