Default Blu-Ray Desktops/Laptops

How many people here use them and enjoy them? I recently got an HP blu-ray laptop, and I REALLY like it. HDMI out-puts, memory card reader, and even a small remote that pops out of the side of the computer. The quality of the blu-ray on the computer monitor itself is really good, too.

The price was cheap, too! $750 from Best-Buy.

I still need blu-ray movies though, lol.

Curious as to who has anykind of blu-ray enabled computer.

I've got an old Pentium 4 machine with the Lite-On 4x BD-ROM drive and ATI HD2600XT video card. The card itself only can output DD 5.1 through HDMI.

What type of Blu-Ray playing software do you use? I currently have PowerDVD 7.3 Ultra OEM and 8 Ultra. Load times can be from 20-40 seconds long now though currently PowerDVD 8 Ultra doesn't work with anything laden with alot of BD-J for some reason.

It's a pre-loaded HP Software called "Quickplay". It works along with slingbox and you can record TV, but it's the Blu-Ray Software also.

I just bought the Sony Viao VGN-FZ348 laptop. I enjoy it, I haven't toyed with the Blu-ray playback too much but when I did I thought the picture quality was good even for a 15.4" screen. The HDMI output is a nice feature. I only paid a grand total of $820 for it at Circuit City two weeks ago.

I've turned an HP PC into a Vista Media Center PC with a Pioneer Blu-ray drive and an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX video card, 4 GB RAM.

I've got both PowerDVD Ultra 7 and 8 installed but will probably be removing 7 here shortly as they both keep trying to run when I pop a disc in.

No problems out of mine, I love it. I'm trying to get another one together for the bedroom here shortly.

I love my laptop. Solves the issue of the whole portable BD player.

I noticed you have the HD Add-on. I do to, Have you ever hooked up the add-on to you laptop. I've been wanting to hook it up to my laptop to see how it is but I keep forgetting, if I have time I'll try it out either today or tomorrow.

the hd add-on works fine. I still prefer my internal LG super blu drive. Have the best of both worlds.

I have the HP 'Entertainment' PC. it has a blu ray drive and i love it so far. I haven't really messed with the blu ray much (I got it for the 4 GB/ speed, etc.) It's so fast !

anyway, the blu ray is the added bonus. I popped in Pan's Labyrinth and it looked great! So, yea now I have a portable Blu ray player too and it's pretty sweet

I built my computer last year I'm running Vista Ult. and added the first Sony drive that came out. With the core 2 e6400 2.13 and the ATI HD2600 XT OC with 2G Memory it works great and use it all the time. Also have it hooked up to my 57 DLP if I want to watch it on a bigger screen

I will be building a new one in a few months and I will give this one to the wife.
Forgot running PowerDVD 7 Ultra and WinDVD 9 for software. They both seem to work O.K

Got a Sony VGN-AR190G - the first BD enabled laptop sold in The U.S., on January 1 2007(June 2006 was first sale date).

Love that machine!
Like BD laptops so much, bought a second AR.

BD anywhere, can't beat it!

I've had mine just a little over a week now and love it (the HP). First off, I didn't buy it for the blu-ray I got it for the high-speed and amount of RAM, but the is a major bonus! I've watched Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' onit and the new 'Prom night' and it plays really well. Nice features.

Is it possible to get an external drive for a non- BD laptop? I've got a Dell Inspiron E1405 and it's next to impossible to do internal changes. I don't really know that much about replacing/adding a new drive.
