Blu-ray Which BluRay case do you like the best?

I didn't see a place to make a poll. and i'm sorry if this has been done before :-P I'm new to blu ray as a month ago.

Which case do you prefer?

Elite
or the standard kind with the locking flap

I personally like the Elites better. They are bigger, a little thicker, more durable. I don't need a trap door on the side of my case, and I have found the other brand to be kind of flimsy.

I prefer the Elites. The top of the spine looks cleaner to my eye with it being rounded verse the latched kind which are curved.

I actually don't have a major preference for the general shape of either the Amaray (side latched ones) or the Viva Elite cases. What I do like is the embossed/etched Blu-ray logo og the Amaray case and I highly prefer the center hub of the Elite case. I find it's easier for me to remove a disc without flexing the disc much. The side latch isn't that useful for me, so I'd rather not have it.

Also, for people who like Elite cases there are two single disc versions that I noticed. One has the Blu-ray logo that is silk screened while the other is foil stamped. I like the foil stamped ones cause the logo is a bit more shiny.

I prefer the locking cases for Blu-ray, I have some spare locking cases that I keep on hand in case I get a movie with an elite case, so I can switch the case out. I actually prefer the locking cases for HD DVD as well but only Universal Studios used those. I've looked everywhere and then some on the internet to find them to replace my viva elite HD DVD cases but nobody seems to carry them anymore. Oh well.

I See.

some interesting theories. Has anyone else found it weird that when you buy more then 1 blu ray, you almost always find yourself getting 1 of each?

I don't have a lot of money but everytime I've purchased a BD its been by the 2's, and every time I've gotten 1 VE and 1 Locking one.

The locking feature is okay i supose. I didn't like them much on standard DVD's. it felt like you were opening a treasure chest or something. but I think if they incorporated the locking device on an elite case, Plus the etched in BluRay, that'd be kinda cool.

Someone mentioned the screen printing. I too did notice that. I have 1 thats white, and a few that are silver. I like the etched in myself. too bad we can't have best of both worlds.

Also. how many of you ditched the sleeve for a blu ray case, such as the movie cars, and others. i'm talking about the sleeve that goes over the case? I picked up Cars the other day, and i was like "Huh. I Musta grabbed the wrong one" and almost put it back before I saw that it was and just tossed the sleeve aside when I cracked it open.

This is not an elite case BUT its an elite style case with a latch.

Maybe for some the best of both worlds?

Seriously?
I can't believe this thread went on this long.
I have never noticed one case more than another. To me, they all take too long letting me get to what's inside.
This is proof that if there is a subject to be discussed they will be someone available to discuss it.

Bravo!

Exactly. I've only got one at the moment (Sweeney Todd, uk version) but it looks so much better than the standard cases.

I wonder how much extra it would cost to have them as default packaging?
