Currently I have a basic Realtek built-in 'hd' sound card and I want to upgrade this.
Would something like http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=509733 or similar give me a full-HD experience with my computer's blu-ray drive? I've very little idea about audio for computers, so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance for any help. Edit: Right now I have cheap(£30) speakers, but a better headset, so I tend to use that for films. As such, the upgrade doesn't need to be the absolute best solution, but a big upgrade if possible(without being over £100, say) |

An external solution isnt going to do the trick. For the onboard audio chips like the realtek you need to use the analog outputs in order to get the best audio quality.
Optionally there are new hdmi cards coming out that will finally combine your video and audio into one hdmi cable. I think Asus has one. Not sure who the other players are. Cheers

Well, the product claims:
'Replaces low-quality on-board audio, adding powerful hardware-accelerated audio enhancement features. ' But I'll take a look at the internal solutions on offer anyway. Thanks. |
