Default BD30 and sd-dvd frame skipping

I wanted to start a separate thread on this as it is a specific issue AND another disk has been reported that displays the symptom.

On Star Wars A New Hope at the beginning of the movie, not the menus, as the picture pans down from a shot into space, past the planets, to the star cruisers shooting at eachother the planets, stars, etc., all jump. It skips frames.

Have heard from another user that "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events," there is a scene near the start of the movie that shows Lemony Snicket in profile typing on a typewriter. The camera pans left, and as it pans, you can see the frame "skipping" just as in Star Wars. It is, to me, much more obvious than the skipping in Star Wars. This same exact scene/camera pan is repeated near the end of the film, and the same exact behavior is noted.

Great testing and reporting.

I've posted this to encourage folks to check these for themselves and if they can see the frame skipping on either of these disk, then you will know what we are talking about and looking for. At this point I have been told Panasonic is attempting to duplicate the problem. This is one area in which sd-dvd playback can be improved on the BD30 and probably BD50. Folks who have owned the BD30 for some time report this behavior started after 1.3 firmwares. So it was right at some point.

If you have either of these dvd's and feel like checking them, please do and post your results here.

Thanks,
Jim
